For more information on our work visit our website or follow us on X @NCSEM_PAnews ECB updates Inspiring Generations strategy and launches action plans to detail next stepsThe ECB has published its updated strategy for cricket in England and Wales – Inspiring Generations – alongside focused action plans to remove barriers to entry to the sport and to drive equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across cricket. The second iteration of the Inspiring Generations strategy details the ECB’s vision of becoming the most inclusive team sport in England and Wales, whilst growing and uniting the game, and leading it through global transformation. The next strategic cycle to the end of 2028 contains notable events including the hosting of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2026, Men’s and Women’s home Ashes series in 2027 and cricket being included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Women in Sport partners with national sports bodies to launch new research on the experiences of Black British girls in sportWomen in Sport has joined forces with eight national governing bodies of sports, alongside leading research agency Humankind, to launch an innovative study exploring the needs and experiences of Black British girls in sport. Women is Sport is partnering with British Cycling, British Rowing, England Hockey, England Netball, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Football Association (FA), the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), and the Rugby Football Union (RFU). Black History Month: A Time for Reflection, Progress, and Future ActionAs Black History Month comes to a close, the Sport and Recreation Alliance is proud to have celebrated this with their members and sector leaders who are seeking to make sport, recreation and physical activity more accessible and equitable for everyone. For sports organisations in the UK, it is a time not only to acknowledge and celebrate the historical and ongoing contributions of Black communities, athletes and volunteers but also to continue to challenge themselves on what more can be done to address some of the persistent issues facing the sector – issues such as racial inequality, under-representation, low levels of participation and unconscious bias. Physical activity research brought to life at national festivalPaths for All welcomed members of the public to the Science of Steps engagement event on Saturday, 19th October at the University of Stirling campus to discover the benefits of everyday physical activity. The special weekend event was part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Sciences. Designed and led in partnership with the University of Stirling, University of St Andrews and the Workplaces team at Paths for All, the event combined scientific research with nature connectedness, and outdoor activities. Throughout the event, visitors learned about insights from groundbreaking research and Paths for All's national Step Count Challenge focusing on workplace activity and wellbeing. The Premier League teams up with the NFLTo celebrate No Room for Racism, 30 Premier League Primary Stars pupils visited the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to speak to Ledley King (former Tottenham Hotspur captain) and Jerry Azumah (former Chicago Bears player). The Premier League Primary Stars pupils asked some insightful questions which could support discussion about race and diversity in classrooms. Turning barriers into breakthroughs with Eden Rainbow-CooperShokz and parkrun have caught up with T54 paralympic athlete, Eden Rainbow–Cooper. Eden scooped a silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games marathon and recently became the first British woman to win the 2024 Boston Marathon. Success hasn’t always come easy for the Team England-medallist and marathon history-maker, though. In this article she discusses challenges in parasports and how she embraces the noise to turn barriers into breakthroughs.
