Empowering Year 3 Girls Simnikiwe Nguqu and Singce Somlenze for the 'Adventures into Citizenship Program' at Rustenburg Girls High School that took place during July, and supporting the 'Yes I Can' Girls Programme. at the school. A 2nd Market Day was held this year dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within our learners and continuously seeking opportunities for them to engage, learn, and thrive in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship. NEETs Programme A graduation ceremony for 2020/21 students was held on June 26, at the Old Mutual building in Pinelands. This event aimed to honor the hard work of our students and to host a handover ceremony issuing their SETA certificates. The 2023 cohort of 86 students are well underway with both the New Venture Creation and Wholesale and Retail courses currently being conducted online. The community service curriculum kicked-off, with a significant focus on the hydroponics project. With funding from BMZ a large-scale hydroponics community project, involving workshops with students, their families, and community members, as well as the production and distribution of home hydroponics kits and the commercialization of produce are under way. Stitch Ahead Programme Stitch Ahead celebrated their 2nd graduation. Cohort 2 for 2023 graduated on September 15th, an occasion that garnered significant attention and excitement. This cohort held special significance due to the additional conditions and value deliverables applied by the National Development Agency (NDA) through their funding. All 15 Candidates Achieved Level 2 SETA Qualification in Mobile Component Joining. NDA's generous support included exit kits and sewing machines, resulting in two graduates already launching home businesses. Waves of Change Maritime Programme The Waves of Change Maritime Training Facilitation Programme confirmed that through their tireless efforts empowering youth, a total of 242 beneficiaries successfully completed Life Skills training to date, leading to 200 SAMSA Letters of Intent for employment, and the issuance of 70 Seaman's logbooks. One of our programme beneficiaries from February this year has just landed a dream job with MSC Cruise Line! He is all set to embark on his first journey to Istanbul this October! |
