DOWNTOWN RUTLAND ‘PARADE OF HEROES’ & ‘WHOOPIE PIE FESTIVAL’ SET FOR AUG. 27
A street party, concert, fireworks, and Rutland’s “Newly”wed Game will highlight the region’s first annual Whoopie Pie Festival and parade of essential-worker heroes Aug. 27. The festivities will bring the community together for celebration, connection, and reflection after two long years of the pandemic. New visitors are invited to join us in Rutland’s historic downtown. Center Street will shut down for the day and transform into a grass-covered green street. Afternoon activities such as yoga,
a ga ga pit, a caricature artist, a magician, balloon art, and more will take place beginning at noon. Numerous whoopie pie venders will offer samples of their products, and tickets to taste whoopie pies and vote for your favorites will be available. In addition to whoopie pies, vendors will offer other sweet treats for sale, local restaurants will be open, and food trucks will add to the celebration. Read the full announcement →

It's Another Summer Like No Other at The MINT!
All summer long, we’re hosting fun learning activities for kids and adults! On Saturdays, bring your littlest makers to The MINT to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) topics while having lots of fun! STEAM Powered Saturdays are for makers aged 3-10. Kids 5 and older can be dropped off, but caregivers are also welcome to stay and learn alongside. Every Saturday all summer long there are new things to try, like building stomp rockets while we learn about air pressure and potential energy, creating toad houses while we learn about backyard ecosystems and learning about codes while creating secret spy messages! Tuesdays and Thursdays are just for teens at The MINT! We do new projects every Tuesday and Thursday
evening from 4-8pm. Join us to build insect houses, create giant yard dice or turn tops in the wood shop, or learn stained glass, needle felting, build mini siege weapons, carve your own stamps using hand tools and the Glowforge laser cutter or build automata! It’s a great time to reconnect with friends, learn new skills and have fun! Supported by an Expanding Access grant administered by VT Afterschool, we’re able to keep the pricing on our classes low - just $10 per session for kids, and we use a no-documentation-required sliding scale so your cost could be $0 per session. Find all the kids and teens classes listed on our website, rutlandmint.org/theboiler. Of course, we’re also offering adult classes at The MINT too. Stained glass, turning wood on the lathe and jewelry making are just a few of the classes queued up for this summer. See our full class schedule at rutlandmint.org/calendar. Save the date for MINTacular, August 6th! From 2-4pm we’ll have demonstrations and projects set up in lots of our shops, tours and cake. Come help us celebrate our 6th birthday in style! We look forward to seeing you learning at The MINT this summer! Learn more about The MINT→
