AI in the Examination Room: Trust, Patients, and the Future of Medicine
Online | Anytime | Free
In this episode, Dr. Bill McCauley speaks with Dr. Amrit Kripalani and Dr. Frank Myslik about the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in medicine. They explore how tools like ChatGPT and emerging clinical AI platforms are already shaping care and education—reducing documentation burden, supporting clinical decisions, and giving physicians more time with patients—while also raising important challenges around privacy, bias, and patient use of AI. The conversation highlights how medical education and practice must adapt, with a growing emphasis on critical appraisal and the physician’s role as a trusted guide in an AI-enabled healthcare landscape.

CPD at Schulich is collaborating on a research project being led by UBC. We invite you to participate in the research study titled ‘Enhancing autonomous motivation to engage in continuing professional development (CPD): Impacts on well-being’, also known as the VALUE-MD Study, led by Brenna Lynn, PhD, Continuing Professional Development, UBC.
What’s involved?
• Complete a 30-minute online goal-setting activity to identify two learning goals to pursue over the next 3 months.

• Complete three 5-minute follow-up surveys 1, 2, and 3 months after you complete the activity.

• Complete an optional 45–60-minute interview about your experience after 3 months.

Participants will receive an honorarium of $50 for participating in the activity and an additional $50 if they choose to participate in an interview.
