Top of mind, there are only 10 legislative days left before the expiration of the Continuing Resolution currently funding the federal government. Coalition Letter Supporting DACA RecipientsEarlier this month, ACCT, along with a coalition of higher education associations, sent a letter to Congressional Leaders urging them to prioritize legislation providing permanent protection for DACA recipients during the last weeks of the 117th Congress. Coalition Letter on Ending Taxation of Pell GrantsSeeing renewed conversations in Congress regarding a possible year-end tax deal, ACCT joined a coalition of organizations in a letter to Members of Congress highlighting the importance of ending the taxation of Pell Grants. The letter emphasized that this change would permit students with low and middle incomes to retain more of the critical financial aid they need to succeed in higher education. Colleges by the Numbers: Exploring IPEDS and College Navigator WebinarThe U.S. Education Department's National Center for Education Statistics is hosting a webinar Tomorrow, December 1 at 11:00 am EST. Join to learn how to navigate the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator systems where you can find and download data about enrollment, financial aid, faculty and staff, student demographics, graduation, and retention for schools in geographic areas of your choice. Advanced Technological Education Grant ProgramWith a focus on two-year Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs), the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program supports the education of technicians for the high-technology fields that drive our nation's economy. The program involves partnerships between academic institutions (grades 7-12, IHEs), industry, and economic development agencies to promote improvement in the education of science and engineering technicians at the undergraduate and secondary institution levels. The program invites applied research proposals that advance the knowledge base related to technician education. It is required that projects be faculty driven and that courses and programs are credit bearing, although materials developed may also be used for incumbent worker education.
