New name, new logo for MaraetaiMaraetai is stepping into the new season with a fresh identity—sporting both a new name and a striking new logo. Ross Peden from Maraetai proudly shared, “Our new logo truly reflects who we are as a club within our community.” Ross explained the design process, saying, “The brief was to create a logo that starts with a koru at its centre, which then unfolds into a silver fern. The spiral shape of the silver fern represents harmony and continuous movement—perfect for a friendly bowling club like ours, especially as we anticipate a new, faster green.” The koru, a powerful symbol in Māori mythology, stands for new life, growth, strength, success, peace, and unity. “It’s a fitting choice for our club, which is growing with new facilities, stronger membership, and a culture of camaraderie,” Ross added. Encircling the fern is a bold black outline, symbolising the bowl, with the koru's central placement giving the impression of motion. The bottom of the logo features a wave in teal and black, representing the land, sea, and the people of our community coming together with a shared purpose. All these elements come together to perfectly capture our unique identity — 'bowling and meeting by the sea.' When applied to our new bowling uniforms, the design is called Tangaroa. In Māori mythology, Tangaroa is the God of the Sea, who made laws to protect the ocean and all its creatures. The message behind our logo echoes this protection: “Tiaki Mai, I ahau maku ano koe e Tiaki” – ‘If you look after me, then I’ll look after you.’” Entries closing for 1-5 Year FoursMake sure to register your 1-5 Year Fours entry before the
