Cuts to ED funding... No images? Click here June 26, 2024 Leading the news this week: The House is in session and continuing its appropriations work, just recently unveiling the LHHS text. Large Cuts to Education in FY2025 LHHS BillToday, the House Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee released its FY 2025 funding bill, which includes a substantial cut to education spending. The bill proposes an $11.1 billion reduction, to the Department of Education, equivalent to 14% below FY 2024 levels. Meanwhile, the Department of Labor would see a $3 billion cut, equivalent to 23% below FY 2024. While the bill text provides general funding levels for accounts and certain programs, detailed funding allocations for each program will be specified in the Committee Report, which is forthcoming. Next Steps – The subcommittee will convene tomorrow at 8:00 am ET to mark up the bill. To watch the live telecast or the recording after the event, click here. Following the subcommittee markup, the bill is scheduled to proceed to the full Appropriations Committee on July 10.
