The importance of policy review

Insurance is one of those expenses that a lot of practices renew annually without giving much thought to policy content.

Rowena Beckenham (from Beckenham Optometrist) recently asked Nick Duffy (from McLardy McShane) to look over her existing policies. 

Rowena has kindly provided her reflections below:

Nick was fantastic at looking at what we had and what we needed without pushing an agenda. It didn’t cost any less than our original quote but we are confident we are covered for what we need, and if the former broker (well known in Optometric businesses) had quoted on what we finished with I’m sure it would have been much more expensive. It was nice to have someone who was easy to contact, diligent and attentive to our needs. I’m sceptical about a policy that just keeps increasing premiums with little thought to what the content of the policy covers, but haven’t had the time to work through what we needed myself. With Nick, I felt what he was offering wasn’t with the agenda of over-insuring us. He worked the discussion around our needs not the needs of a generic business, customising insurance like we customise eyecare. I’m really happy we’ve made the shift. I have not had any communication with anyone regarding our lapsed policy with the other group which didn’t surprise me but showed their lack of interest in my business.
