Whoopie Pie Festival Success and Thank You!
Thank you to all who made the Second Annual Whoopie Pie Festival a success! Around 5,000 people attended the event, tasting whoopie pies from 12 whoopie pie vendors, watching Dream Maker Bakers assemble a 770-pound whoopie pie, and taking part in the many family-friendly activities!
The CEDRR staff could not have imagined a better day. Thank you to all who helped plan, volunteered, hosted activities and tables, sponsored the event, and attended! It is events like this that prove how wonderful our area is.

Mose Cassaro Nominated for Forbes 30 Under 30
Mose Cassaro was nominated for the Forbes 30 Under 30 feature, in the Venture Capital category. As a result, he has been invited to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit in Cleveland, Ohio. The event brings together young leaders, influencers,
founders, and celebrities from various industries to share insights and foster collaboration. Mose is excited to represent our organization and connect with fellow innovators and venture capitalists at this prestigious gathering.
Winners will not be announced at the Summit. This is an opportunity to connect with fellow nominees, previous 30 Under 30 listers, and some industry leaders.
This special evening will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Allen Pools and Spas will raffle off a hot tub as well as other donated prizes from the community. Raffle sales started at the beginning of September to get a jump start on fundraising.
The mixer should be a fun event as we come to mingle with our KPAA colleagues under the large tent! Need a hot tub? The tent sale includes ready-for-purchase pre-owned hot tubs. Seating and heaters under the tent while listening to Aaron Audet, food and drinks by Noel’s Catering, and The Making Strides leadership team will tell us all about their fundraising for breast cancer.
Research continues to prove that positive and inclusive workplaces are critical to attracting and retaining employees and contribute significantly to
the overall success of businesses and community economies.
The survey results will help populate a website with resources for community coordination, learning, and evolving workplace culture to help businesses. This survey does not ask for your business name, just your thoughts and needs.

You are invited to a celebration to kick off Killington Forward's municipal water and road projects on October 4 at 1:30 p.m. The reception will be held at the Killington Welcome Center, 2319 Route 4.
Last week, the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region hosted a 3-Acre Stormwater Mitigation informational meeting presented by the Agency of Natural Resources.
CEDRR will follow up with a meeting with our State Senators, Representatives, and a working group of property owners to further explore how we can support property owners who will experience impact fees and/or significant costs associated with remediation.
Meet Moses Hudson-Knapp, RN – Community Health’s New Director of Population Health & Quality
Community Health has promoted Moses Hudson-Knapp, RN, to Director of Population Health and Quality. A graduate of Castleton University’s Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Associate Degree in Nursing programs, he has served as a nurse clinical leader and clinical project coordinator for Community Health for the past seven years.
“I think I bring something a little bit different to the table that really comes from a lifetime of deep connections to this community," he said. "I have been fortunate to work with kids and adults, with people everywhere from the classroom, to the clinic, to the hospital bedside, and to blend those experiences with a professional and educational background in data analysis and quality improvement.”

Third Round of Community Recovery and Revitalization Program Award Winners in Rutland County
Governor Phil Scott and the Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) announced the third round of Community Recovery and Revitalization (CRRP) grant winners. These grants will help transform communities by adding jobs, childcare and affordable housing, improving infrastructure, and helping spur the creative economy.
There are thirty-one projects in twelve counties, below are the Rutland County projects.
Housing Trust of Rutland County - Marble Village's proposed award is $475,000 for new construction of mixed income multi-family residential units in the downtown designated village of West Rutland. 8 units will be occupied by those at 50% AMI, 11 units at 60% AMI, and 5 units at 100% AMI.
Ascend Housing Allies - Hospital Heights Rehabilitation's proposed award is $500,000 for the rehabilitation of 22 existing rental homes in Rutland. The homes, built in 1977, serve Rutland's most vulnerable community members making at or below 30%
AMI.
Village of Poultney's proposed award is $71,887 for a project to allow the Village of Poultney to install a pump station generator for two wells, install a sewer pump station generator, rehabilitate the existing cast in place concrete tank, and pay for associated water reservoir rehabilitation permitting.

If you have taken a mosaics class with us before, check out this three-session Mosaic Table Workshop that starts September 27. We provide all materials and step-by-step instructions to take your projects from beginning to end. This class is an intermediate-level class and requires a previous mosaics class.
Our monthly Letterpress for Beginners class is Wednesday, October 4. Class participants will leave knowing how to "lock up a chase" and "set up a job." This beginner class will get your foot in the door of the Letterpress shop so that you can work independently to create your own prints and designs.
Get in the mood for spookiness with our Spooky Gnomes Pottery class on October 10. Did you know that the collective noun for a group of gnomes is a donsy? Come join us for this 2-hour workshop and make one for yourself! This is a beginner friendly class, instruction will be provided every step of the way. We will underglaze our creations at the end for a pop of color.

Our mosaic offerings are expanding! Jennifer returns to the instructor seat with this single 3-hour session exploring micromosaics! Detail, patience, and a willingness to "drop in" are key. Fine hand skills and the use of tweezers are also essential for this type of art making.
Rutland Young Professionals is an all-volunteer, all-inclusive organization focused on creating a vibrant Rutland Region and promoting all of the opportunities available here to young professionals near and far.
