Dear colleagues, As we continue to navigate some of the most challenging times of our lives, these poignant words from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. underscore the impact of our connectedness. From the broad effects of the pandemic both globally and locally, to the consequences of individual actions, we are reminded of the fact that we are all beams in a connected society. But just like those weight bearing pillars of strength, every one of us needs care and support to continue our roles. Dr. King left us with a charge to serve—but also to care for ourselves and those around us. Whether you are spending this Martin Luther King Day "on" in service to our patients or to the community, or if you are able to observe this day with restorative rest, know that we see you and appreciate all that you’ve continued to do as servant leaders. May we all continue to reflect upon and be inspired by his extraordinary courage to forge ahead in times of uncertainty. Thank you for your continued service—that which is visible and the countless sacrifices we cannot see. Sincerely, David S.
