Vet assistants directly help the veterinarian and vet technicians with tasks relating to the animals they are working with. These tasks can include walking, feeding, watering, cleaning, certain treatments, and recording the health information of the animals. All vet assistants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED credential. The starting salary of a vet assistant is $22,960 a year and has room to grow to $30,690 a year over time. Olesia wanted to get a job, so she participated in the Mentor-Mentee Program. As a mentee, Olesia received valuable assistance with writing her resume. The mentor provided her with useful feedback and tips on making her skills stand out to potential employers. Olesia and her mentor discussed her career goals and gave her a better understanding of the different paths available that aligned with her education. Olesia said “Overall, my experience as a mentee in the program was positive and rewarding. I am grateful for the guidance and support I received from my mentor and the program, and I would recommend it to others looking to enhance their career prospects and explore opportunities in their field. I am delighted to say that I got a job as Paralegal/Legal Assistant with JFCS and my first day was March 6.” Share your success story with us!
