Leading the News this Week

After ten Senate Republicans sent Russell Vought, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, a letter requesting that funds being held under review be released, the Trump administration unfroze about $1.3 billion meant for K-12 afterschool programming. This is out of over $6 billion that were withheld on July 1st as part of the administration's effort to review these and higher education programs. Meanwhile, $716 million in funding for Adult Basic and Literacy Education State Grants are still being withheld under review.

Dear Colleague Letter on H.R. 1 the “One, Big Beautiful Bill” Implementation

The department of education issued a dear colleague letter on the immediate implementation of the education provisions of the recently enacted H.R. 1 as they pertain to the student loan space including changes to Income Based Repayment, Parent PLUS Loans, and loan limits for part-time students. This will be in addition to regulations and guidance on the other provisions of this law coming later this year.

Workforce Pell Survey is Open

With Workforce Pell now enacted into law, ACCT is interested in better understanding of the needs of community colleges as they navigate the implementation of Workforce Pell. As such, ACCT has opened up a survey for members to share what will be the most helpful areas in which ACCT can support them.
