Improve your research through community engagement When: 21 November 2023, 10:00am - 11:30am You've identified a gap in knowledge and now you're undertaking a PhD or Masters to fill that gap. Did you know that by engaging with members of the community who have lived experience related to your topic, that you can improve your research? Hearing the perspectives of those who have (for example) survived cancer, or who live with type 1 diabetes, can not only improve the quality of your research and help you to consider other options, but can make your work more meaningful. While many postgraduate researchers experience difficulty with these activities, mastering them is vital for creating a positive research experience and post PhD future. Beyond Basics: Conditionals and Visualisation in Excel This hands-on workshop will cover some advanced features of Excel, such as how to apply some conditional analysis to glean greater insights from your data. Machine Learning eResearch Platform for Australian Researchers To efficiently manage GPU resources and reduce entry barriers, Monash University, UQ, QCIF, and ARDC have implemented a machine learning service known as the Machine Learning eResearch Platform (MLeRP). They have also developed user-friendly training materials for easy adoption. MLeRP bridges the gap, offering the interactivity of a notebook and the computational power of an HPC environment, allowing resource sharing among users when code is not actively running. The team will delve into what sets MLeRP apart from other HPC platforms and how to leverage its hardware effectively. Learn to Program: Python Python has deservedly become a popular language for scientific computing and among researchers, but getting started can be challenging, especially if you have never programmed before.
