EVENT SPOTLIGHT: 2026 TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP SMT takes the TOUR Championship to next level with video production on No. 18 Monsterboard Thanks to Jeff Carella, Sr. Business Development Manager for contributing to this report and providing video. Thanks to EPM Torrance Wilson for the images and to Video Editor Shaun Bales for the highlight reel. The best of the best came to Atlanta's East Lake Golf Club as the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings competed for the TOUR Championship and the season-long FedExCup title. For SMT, the event was another opportunity to put our technology, creative services and on-site expertise to the test across one of the PGA TOUR’s biggest stages. SMT has supported the TOUR Championship for more than 15 years, and our involvement has grown significantly in recent years. Over the past four years alone, SMT’s billable services for the event have increased by more than 300 percent, according to Sr. BDM Jeff Carella, driven in large part by our expanding relationships with the TOUR Championship’s partners, including Accenture, Southern Company and Coca-Cola. This year, SMT had approximately 12 staff members on-site at peak deployment, with additional support provided remotely by Creative Studio and software engineering teams. NEW MONSTERBOARD ACCENTURE ACTIVATION This year's biggest addition was a new Accenture activation on the Monsterboard at 18 Green, combining creative, live data and AI to give fans a completely new way to experience the action. SMT Creative Studio built a detailed 3D model of hole 18 at East Lake using Unreal Engine. As players made their way down the final hole, live ShotLink data was used to render each player’s shots and create Accenture-branded stroke trails on the 3D model. SMT also developed an AI-powered insights model that ingested ShotLink data to provide real-time statistical context around what was happening on the hole. The system could identify and explain moments such as whether a player was attempting to reach the green in two, laying up, or dealing with a penalty, helping fans better understand the decisions and outcomes unfolding in front of them. The 3D model and stroke trails were paired with on-screen information including the group’s drive distance, distance to the pin, what each player was hitting for and the AI-generated insights. The concept grew from a spring presentation of SMT’s NTT DATA Wall work at The Open Championship. Accenture saw an opportunity to bring a similar data-driven, visually engaging experience to the TOUR Championship, and SMT brought the concept to life.
SMT's complete deployment across the course included an extensive collection of LED, IPTV, tracking and interactive technologies, including:
NEW PRACTICE ROUND TRACKING: At the PGA's request, SMT also introduced Practice Round tracking graphics. Previously, SMT had provided Practice Round information at THE PLAYERS Championship, primarily for NGSC. This year, the service was expanded to the TOUR Championship for Wednesday’s practice round.
The week culminated with Scottie Scheffler capturing both the TOUR Championship and the FedExCup. The victory marked Scheffler’s third win of the season and came with a $10 million prize. It also moved him past Tiger Woods as the PGA TOUR’s all-time leading money winner.
BROADCAST SPOTLIGHT: NASCAR COKE ZERO SUGAR 400 SMT helps NASCAR fans follow a must-win moment at Coke Zero Sugar 400 Thanks to TJ Zimmermann, Remote Tech, Operations, for contributing to this report. Thanks to Video Editor Shaun Bales for the highlight reel. The stakes couldn’t have been much higher at Daytona International Speedway. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Aug. 29 was NASCAR’s regular-season finale, and for Ryan Preece, winning wasn’t just about taking the checkered flag, it was the only way he could clinch the final spot in the postseason. Preece delivered, earning his first career points-paying victory and, in the process, securing his spot in the NASCAR playoffs over Shane van Gisbergen. Remote Tech TJ Zimmermann and VP, Technical Support, Nick Rider were on-site at Daytona, operating the systems that powered the race’s live graphics and data to help bring that dramatic storyline to air. Behind the scenes, SMT’s technology takes in a constant stream of information, including timing and scoring, vehicle telemetry and pit road data. That information is processed in real time and used to power the graphics viewers see throughout the broadcast and in-stadium. For the Coke Zero Sugar 400, that real-time information became especially important as the race came down to the final playoff spot. SMT’s graphics helped viewers follow the constantly changing points picture and understand exactly what Preece needed to accomplish to advance. As the race unfolded, the graphics provided an immediate view of where drivers stood and what the results meant for the playoff standings. Then came the moment everyone was waiting for: Preece won. The victory clinched the final postseason spot, and SMT’s real-time graphics immediately helped communicate the significance of the result to viewers. What could otherwise be a complicated points scenario became a clear, easy-to-follow part of the broadcast story. The exciting finish helped draw an audience, too. The race attracted 3.509 million viewers, up 6% from the previous year, according to NBC. The Saturday night event was also something of a rarity for the Cup Series—only two of the season’s first 26 races had been held on a Saturday.
