Call for Cases of the Month

Faculty and fellows are invited to submit a case for the Case of the Month to be featured in this newsletter and on the DOM’s blog, Emory Daily Pulse Blog. We are seeking clinical cases with any amount of diagnostic reasoning or one that would be considered an abstract for a clinical vignette. Find previous cases on our blog, here. Keep in mind that these should be written for the non-specialist.

Ready to submit a case? Please contact Lenore Meeks for a template, tips, or questions.  Fellows, please have a faculty sponsor review your case before submission.

We hope to see your case here next month!

Let's Talk Promotions

Congratulations!  Jason M. Brown, MD, Caitlin Moran, MD, MsC, Sahebi Saiyed, MD, and Dr. Sujit Suchindran, MD, MPH (pictured left) were approved for promotion to Associate Professor, effective September 1, 2023.

When Dr. Suchindran was asked what advice he would share with his fellow faculty members embarking on the promotion journey, he said, "In addition to attending all the promotion and CV workshops, I recommend that mentors review your CV and additional portfolio items. It is also helpful to see some of their documents for comparison. And while you may pay closest attention to your area of distinction, do not neglect the documentation of the other areas of distinction." He added, "For those entering the promotion journey, update your CV and other portfolios in real-time or as close to real-time as possible."

Call for Nominations

The Executive Committee of the Emory University Faculty Council invites nominations for faculty members to serve as counselors to two committees of the Emory University Board of Trustees:

  • Campus Life Committee
  • Woodruff Health Sciences Center Committee

Faculty members selected as faculty counselors serve a three-year appointment. Expectations of service for faculty counselors include participating in committee meetings (typically three to four meetings per year, each lasting two to three hours, but some committees meet more often). The board seeks faculty who, when called upon, will actively participate in committee discussions and represent the interests and perspectives of the faculty. Priority will be given to candidates with experience and interest in campus life and health sciences.

The nominating faculty member should submit a one-page nomination letter of the qualified candidate. Self-nominations are permitted. The nomination letter should detail why the candidate is being nominated and include the names and contact information of three additional faculty members from whom the Faculty Council Executive Committee may solicit additional information about the nominee. Previous service as a faculty counselor should be noted. Letters of nomination should be uploaded no later than Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
