We've had a busy week! Bowls Auckland rep launchLast Wednesday, 26 September, we held an Auckland Rep Day. The Rep Day was to welcome in the 2023-2024 Rep Programme and to acknowledge and celebrate bowlers selected to represent Auckland for the 1-5 Year, Premier, and Premier Development squads. It was an opportunity for the reps to come together as one! Guest speaker Raelene Castle, Group Chief Executive of Sports NZ, spoke on leadership, sharing great personal insight into her experience as a leader of NZ and Australian sporting bodies. Quad Series 1 updateAuckland Premier, Premier Development and 1-5 rep squads had their first competitive hit out last weekend in the Quad 1 Series between Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland and North Harbour. Auckland hosted on Saturday 30 September: 1-5 Year North Harbour hosted on Sunday 1 October: Premier & Premier Development
Roll Up 2023The Roll Up Campaign is about raising awareness of bowls, getting the public to try bowls, and for people to know where their local bowling club is! It's also a great opportunity to continue to evolve the perception of bowls – to celebrate a fantastic, fun and inclusive sport that anyone can play. To kick it off with a bang, Roll Up launched on 26 September on various platforms, radio and digital… plus hosting a Media Launch event. Sky Sports, The Crowd Goes Wild, and TV One's Seven Sharp were there, filming NZ reps Tony Grantham, Selina Goddard & David Motu putting Auckland Aces (cricketers) Sean Solia, Robert O’Donnell, and Adithya Ashok through their paces. It was smiles all around for the cross-sport encounter, especially as both programmes aired the launch this week... promoting bowls to the nation and beyond! Auckland Presidents DayDonning club shirts, 28 club teams arrived in fine fettle, ready to represent their club with pride for Auckland Presidents Day on Sunday 1 October. The day is a tradition - it's an excellent way for clubs to come together socially, mix and mingle with other clubs, have some fun, have a bite to eat and play a few ends of bowls! Thanks to all the clubs in attendance, and a special thanks to Bowls Auckland President, Greame Scott and to Auckland Bowling Club for being a wonderful host.
