Bowls 3Five Champions Crowned

The Bowls3Five Final delivered plenty of drama on Tuesday evening! 

Auckland: Mt Albert (Zoran Bartulovich, Neven Grgicevich & Marisa Posa) claimed the title with a 2-0 win over an impressive young Howick Hawks lineup.

Near Neighbour Playoff: Mt Albert’s run came to an end against Birkenhead, who secured a national finals berth for the second year running, led by world COC singles winner Millie Nathan.

A huge thank you to all clubs, players, and supporters who made the past six weeks of competition a huge success!

Let's Go Auckland!

Two rep squads are flying the Auckland flag this weekend! Our Premier teams are in Wellington for the 2025 National Intercentre, while our 1-5 Year squad heads to Mairangi Bay to compete in the inaugural Octagonal Challenge.

Auckland’s men kicked off their campaign yesterday with a 2-1 win over South Canterbury but fell to Canterbury by the same margin. The women hit the green this morning at 8:30 am against Southland, ready to make their mark!

1-5 Year Octagonal
Our 1-5s cross the bridge to Mairangi Bay for the first-ever Octagonal Challenge. With fierce competition from regions like Hawke’s Bay and North Harbour, it’s anyone’s guess who will take the title. One thing’s for sure—Auckland is here to compete!

Students shine at Secondary School Pairs

Auckland students hit the greens for the Auckland Secondary School Pairs this week, with students from 12 schools from across the rohe (region) bringing their A-game! This year’s event saw record participation, with the addition of a Development Grade allowing even more players to get involved. 

From strategic shot-making to impressive teamwork, the matches were competitive but the camaraderie was even better! Who took home the medals? And what were the standout moments?

Bangers and Bowls

Thanks to an awesome collaboration between The Edge, Bowls Auckland, and Auckland Bowling Club, 'Bangers and Bowls' rolled onto the green on Sunday, 9 March.

Hosted by The Edge, lucky listeners had the chance to experience a fun summer arvo filled with music, good mates and bowls! With on-air promos, text bounce-backs, and a comment-to-win giveaway, The Edge built a bowls squad—giving winners (and three mates) the chance to hit the green—plus the chance to pocket $250!

Under sunny blue skies, DJ Sean Hill set the vibe and kept the beats pumping while The Edge Crew kept the energy going for over 60 eventgoers, many rolling a bowl for the very first time! And guess what? They loved it!

This event was all about showing bowls in a fresh, fun way, proving that the sport is for everyone. We’re stoked to have introduced new faces to the game, and we can’t wait to see them back at a twilight or social league soon!

Keep an ear out for when the next Bangers and Bowls might drop! 

Western Stings Twilight Champs at Rocky Nook

Congratulations to Western Stings who, after many attempts, have ended a series undefeated to win the 2025 Koanga Twilight Bowls3Five, $300 cash and entry into this season’s Auckland Twilight Bowls Final at Mt Albert on 6 April. 

On another fine, though cooler evening Team Wormwood Motors defeated Madness in the other top-of-the-table clash to be runners-up, followed by I’m Keen and Can’t See Jack who leapfrogged Madness to complete the top 5. Various teams won spot prizes of gift vouchers from Full Time Sports Bar & Eatery, The Classic: Comedy Club, Auckland Irish Club, and free entry into the Raumati/Spring series in October. 

Ngā mihi nui to outgoing Match Director, Chris Dewar, for his many years of sterling service and to the other members who helped put on the series. 

Registration is open for the next series (on the Comps page of our website) and memberships taken out now run through until the end of next season—so March to May are free! 

Remuera Classic Victory for Carlton Cornwall

After 16 years of perseverance, Norman Ng finally claimed victory at the Remuera Classic Tournament alongside his Carlton Cornwall teammates—Ian Dee, John Corse-Scott, and Mate Tolich. The tournament, held at Remuera Bowling Club, saw 22 teams competing for top honours.
