July Newsletter

Hi

Amazingly, we've now enjoyed quite a few weeks of excellent weather, and this has definitely increased the numbers of people visiting and enquiring about our cars. Even the curse of Graeme, our valeter, appears to have lifted... previously his weekly visits used to guarantee loads of rain, but now he only brings sunshine!

And being summer, we're now turning our attention to shows and outdoor events. First on the horizon is the Silverstone Classic in just over a week's time (it runs 20th - 22nd July). We'll be helping out on the Morgan stand and looking forward to visiting the Lotus displays as well. If you haven't been to the Silverstone Classic before, it's well worth a visit - excellent historic racing, incredible displays from a multitude of car clubs, loads of stalls and traders, and plenty of entertainment. Then the next event after Silverstone is Morgan's 'Thrill on the Hill' - more details later in this newsletter - at which we'll be taking a stand.

Please be aware that if you'd like to book your car in with us for any service or interior trim work, both our workshop and trimshop are very busy, and so the more notice you can give us the better.

Since the last newsletter, we've now welcomed two new members of staff. Vanessa, one of our long standing Morgan owners and who's looking after accounts and handling 'special projects', and Michael who joins us a Service & Parts Advisor and will be the first point of contact for many of our customers.

Hope you enjoy this latest newsletter...

Morgan's "Thrill on the Hill"

Thrill on the Hill

On the weekend of 11/12 August, Morgan are hosting their highly anticipated main event of the year, "Thrill on the Hill".

The venue for Saturday 11th is the Morgan Factory, with a full day and evening of entertainment and celebration. There are Factory tours, live music, aerial displays, artisan food and crafts stalls, loads of Morgan, and a firework finale.

Then for Sunday 12th, the festivities move to a different venue, namely the renowned Prescott Hill Climb. There'll be plenty of Morgans trying out the hill climb, an aerial display, food and drinks stalls, music and lots of Morgan enthusiasts.

For more information, and to book tickets, please click on Thrill on the Hill

Pashley-Morgan Bicycles

Morgan is collaborating with Pashley, the longest established British bicycle manufacturer, to launch a Pashley-Morgan range of bicycles.

Initially there'll be two models, the Pashley-Morgan 3 and the Pashley-Morgan 8, and these will be handbuilt at Pashely's Stratford upon Avon factory.

The frame is hand-crafted in Reynolds 631 tubing; classic styling and quality of course come as standard; and the '8' features an 8-speed Shimano internal geared hub whilst the '3' has a 3-speed Sturmey Archer internal geared hub.

Full details have yet to be revealed, but we look forward to selling these superb bikes alongside our beautiful Morgans, and it's expected the '3' will be priced at £1,495 and the '8' at £1,595.

Lotus news

Lotus Exige Sport 410

For the first time in ages, we don't have a new limited edition or revised model of Lotus to showcase in our newsletter. But after all the refinement that Lotus have been doing in order to create what is arguably the best performing range of sports cars, there's probably nothing left to tweak!

At Lotus there have been a couple of management changes.

After a number of very successful years in charge, Jean-Marc Gales stepped down last month as CEO, although he maintains his involvement with Lotus by taking a role as Chief Strategic Advisor to the Lotus Chairman. Replacing him as CEO is Feng Qingfeng from parent company Geely Holding.

And recently appointed as Commercial Director is Marcus Blake, with responsibility for all sales, marketing and aftersales activities at Lotus. Marcus was previously Global Marketing Director at Aston Martin.

But we look forward to more news in the coming months from Lotus as to upcoming new models and the benefits that investment from its relatively new owners Geely Holding (who acquired Lotus last year) will bring. In case you're not aware, Geely, a very large and successful Chinese automotive company, also own Volvo and the London Electric Vehicle company and is a main sponsor for the Bloodhound Project (Richard Noble's landspeed car which will be targeting 1,000 mph in 2019).

Morgan 3 Wheeler

With the glorious weather of late, it's been a perfect time for driving and enjoying Morgan 3 Wheelers. As many people haven't experienced the delights of driving the 3 Wheeler, the next best thing to actually sampling one is perhaps a rather fine write-up on the matter by our good friend Neil Furber of Drive 7Tenths.

To read Neil's road test, please click on Driving the 3 Wheeler

As you may remember from previous newsletters, Neil's company, Drive 7Tenths, offers performance driver training, on both road and track. He's just launched a new website which provides full details and lots of great driving tips and articles. See www.drive7tenths.com

And if Neil's article has wetted your appetite for a 3 Wheeler, our demonstrator is available to try, and indeed buy if you so wish (we have a new one on order)! To learn more, click on 3 Wheeler demonstrator
