A new guideline has outlined which medications can now be given to people with type 2 diabetes who would normally be prescribed glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs). Developed by the Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) and the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), the guidance aims to support clinicians in selecting alternative glucose-lowering therapies for treating type 2 diabetes while there is a national shortage of GLP-1RAs. The NHS has now started offering hybrid closed loop systems to individuals with type 1 diabetes. Local NHS systems have started identifying eligible people living with type 1 diabetes who health chiefs believe could benefit from a hybrid closed loop system.
