Pitching Bootcamp 2025 - Apply Now

As a researcher, being able to confidently pitch your research may open new opportunities for research funding, or increase the impact of your research through increased engagement. After the 2024 Pitching Bootcamp program's success, we’re excited to run it again for 2025!

Unlock your potential and master the art of persuasion with our Pitching Bootcamp developed in collaboration with Talent Academy! This dynamic program will transform your pitching skills from ordinary to extraordinary.

Workshops will meet in-person on Tuesdays from 10 June to 8 July.

Eligible for 10 CaRST credits in Domain D

To register your interest in the course, please complete and submit the online Expression of Interest form by 12 May. You will be advised by 20 May if you are successful in gaining a place in the program.

Improve your Confidence with Improv

If you answered yes, or you just want to have a truckload of fun, improvisation is for you! EndNote for Reference Management - Advanced

This session is designed to ensure you get the most out of EndNote by providing guidance on some of the more advanced features of EndNote. You will learn how to customise and manage your EndNote library, add and alter referencing styles, edit and modify your Word document using Cite While you Write and save and backup your Endnote library. Basic knowledge of and experience using EndNote is assumed for those booking this course. Register here.

The Imposter Syndrome

Why do successful people often feel like frauds? How can it be that so many clever, competent and capable people can feel that they are just one step away from being exposed as a complete fraud? Despite evidence that they are performing well they can still have that lurking fear that at any moment someone is going to tap them on the shoulder and say, “We need to have a chat”. This webinar will explain why high performing people often doubt their abilities and find it hard to enjoy their successes. It will also show the links to perfectionism and self-handicapping strategies such as procrastination, avoidance and overcommitment. Register here.

Turbocharge your Writing

Would you like to know the secret to high output, low stress scholarly writing? In academia it is often assumed that writing comes naturally. However, an overwhelming body of research shows that there are very clear and practical strategies that can greatly increase your writing productivity. This workshop will help you to understand: why it’s hard to get started; how we deliberately use distractions to slow down writing; the principles of quick starting; how to deal with destructive internal beliefs; how to set a writing plan and stick to it; how to set achievable goals by writing in a silo; how to greatly increase the number of actual words you produce; and how to clarify your thinking, and improve the quality of your work. Register here.

Data Manipulation and Visualisation in R

Do you have a good knowledge of the basic concepts and techniques in R and want to level up? Understanding Predatory Publishing

Lurking within the vast research landscape are what are known as predatory publishers – publishers (or conference organisers) who engage in unprofessional or unethical practices. They will often target researchers with direct invitations to contribute. Identifying predatory publishers is important as publishing your work with them can damage your research impact and professional reputation. This workshop will help you to understand how to assess a journal or conference to identify whether it is legitimate, or might be predatory. Exploring Chi-square and correlation in R

In this hands-on training, we will traverse into the realm of inferential statistics in R, beginning with correlation and reliability. We will present a brief conceptual overview and the R procedures for computing reliability and correlation (Pearson’s r, Spearman’s Rho and Kendall’s tau) in real world datasets. Traversing t tests in R

This workshop aims to familiarise you with basic statistical concepts in R from reading in and manipulating data, checking assumptions, statistical tests and visualisations. This is not an advanced statistics course, but is instead designed to gently introduce statistical comparisons and hypothesis testing in R. Introduction to Systematic Searching for SET

This workshop will provide an introduction to systematic searching and literature reviews for SET disciplines, focusing on how approaches to searching and reviewing research can be modified for non-health areas. Whatever stage you’re at in your research journey, this course will help you to develop your statistics skills for effective research projects. Gain key support to evaluate and interpret statistics, and report on sound research findings.
