December 2022 newsletter from St Petroc's Early Years! Dear Parents & Carers, Just like that another year comes to an end, and it's been my absolute pleasure, along with the rest of the St Petroc's Early Years team, to watch the children grow and flourish in our setting. The children have enjoyed a range of Christmas-themed activities in the run up to the big day, some photos of which you can see further down in this newsletter. Just a reminder that we are closed from Friday 16th December, and will reopen on Tuesday 3rd January. I hope that in the meantime you all manage to take some well-deserved time to relax, unwind and celebrate Christmas with your families. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and carers for their continued support, and wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and happy, healthy 2023. Kind Regards, Tahira White Early Years Manager Designated Safeguarding Lead Christmas craftsThe children have been enjoying a range of Christmas crafts, which has involved showing off their artistic skills with lots of glitter and glue! They've been learning about the Gingerbread Man, and writing their Christmas present and Christmas lunch lists. Christmas Quiz nightWe are so pleased to announce we raised a whopping £543.00 from selling raffle tickets and the holding the Christmas quiz on Friday. We would like to say a huge thank you to the St Petroc’s Early Years parents and also family and friends who supported the event. We would also like to say a massive thank you to the small businesses who so kindly donated raffle prizes, and also Bude Rugby Club for allowing us to hold there - it was very much appreciated. Vicky is already thinking about the next fundraiser! Christmas activity ideasThe festive period is full of opportunities to catch up with family and friends, and celebrate together. But sometimes, you just need some quiet days in between to recharge! Below is a link to some free downloads of lovely Christmas-themed activities, to help keep your little ones busy over the festive period. Christmas outfitsAs well as making a range of festive gifts to share, the children have enjoyed dressing up in their best Christmas outfits, Christmas jumpers and singing their favourite Christmas carols. It's definitely got us all in the mood for the big day! Free taster settling in sessionsWe are pleased to be offering free taster settling in sessions to parents and carers in the local area, so that children have the opportunity to experience the setting, meet the staff and other children, before parents make any commitments. If you know of anyone who is considering childcare options at the moment, please do pass on our details. Please click the button below to find out more. German 'Lebkuchen' biscuitsThe babies and toddlers had a blast baking and decorating German Christmas biscuits called 'Lebkuchen'! They are one of Germany's most popular Christmas treats and taste a little like gingerbread. They come in a range of shapes and can be decorated with icing, chocolate and nuts. If you fancy having a go at making them at home, there's an easy to follow recipe below: Bude What's OnThere are so many lovely family-friendly events taking place in Bude and the surrounding areas over the Christmas break.
