A record year for Hertfordshire's screen sector
Hertfordshire’s screen sector has just delivered its strongest year on record. In 2025/26, film and TV production generated an estimated £29.1 million in local economic spend – more than double the previous year’s total. This growth reflects a surge in production activity alongside improved reporting, with our Hertfordshire Film Office playing a strategic role in attracting filming to the county, strengthening local partnerships, and helping turn screen production into tangible benefits for local businesses and communities. From Bridgerton at Hatfield House and Wonka in St Albans, to Project Hail Mary and major TV productions filmed county wide, Hertfordshire
continues to attract world class content – and world-class opportunities.
Future Ready programme opens doors for young people
Our Hertfordshire Careers Hub is helping disadvantaged young people gain valuable work experience through the new Future Ready programme — and local businesses, including small or micro-organisations, are invited to get involved. There is no major time commitment, no need for a large team or existing school engagement programme, and the interaction could be anything from a two-hour workplace visit to a bite-sized placement,
depending on what suits your business. The Future Ready Fund is delivered by The Careers & Enterprise Company and supported by JPMorgan Chase - with Hertfordshire being one of just ten areas selected to receive the funding nationally in its pilot year, reflecting the strength of our Careers Hub. DID YOU KNOW: In Hertfordshire, reliance on
parent-secured work placements is 25% higher than the national average. This programme helps give disadvantaged children an equal chance to develop their skills, confidence, and aspirations through work experience - and your business could play a crucial role.
