A Look at June Highlights

A Message from Our CEO, Leanne Down

As we look back on June, I’m proud to reflect on a month of meaningful initiatives designed to advocate, connect and educate our members.

Throughout the month, we continued our commitment to creating opportunities for business and community leaders to come together. Highlights included our second Business Leaders Lunch, where members enjoyed an exclusive tour and a thought-provoking discussion on leadership and growth, as well as our Ministerial Roundtable with The Hon. Danny Pearson MP and John Lister MP, which offered valuable insights into the economic priorities shaping our region.

In this edition, we also share important local updates from Mathew Hilakari MP, Member for Point Cook, reflecting our focus on keeping members informed about developments that impact their businesses and our wider community.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. I look forward to the months ahead as we build on this momentum together.

Happy reading

Business Leaders Lunch with Mark Melvin

Thank you to all our members who joined us for our second Business Leaders Lunch at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club.

It was a pleasure connecting with such a dynamic group, beginning with an exclusive pre-lunch tour of the club’s impressive facilities. Guests then enjoyed a gourmet lunch and an engaging presentation by Mark Melvin, whose candid reflections on leadership in both large and small businesses sparked valuable conversations around the room.

We’re delighted to hear that many of you left feeling inspired and more connected. Your ongoing support and involvement mean so much to us, and we look forward to welcoming you to future Committee for Wyndham events.

A special thank you to Carter and Co for their outstanding support with event setup and styling, and to Lizzy Jacobs Photography for beautifully capturing the day. Your contributions helped make this event truly memorable.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a successful day of connection, learning and collaboration.

Ministerial Roundtable

In June, the Committee for Wyndham hosted a Roundtable with The Hon. Danny Pearson MP and John Lister MP.

Members from a wide range of sectors took part in an open discussion on challenges and opportunities for local businesses, covering topics such as growth constraints, policy settings, workforce needs, and infrastructure planning.

We were pleased that a direct outcome was actioned as a result of the conversation and look forward to seeing further positive developments.

Thank you to Minister Pearson and Minister Lister for engaging so thoughtfully, to Wyndham CEC for hosting us, and to Lizzy Jacobs Photography for capturing the event.

At the Committee for Wyndham, we remain committed to advocating for the voices that drive our region forward.

Mathew Hilakari MP - Point Cook District

Member for Point Cook, Mathew Hilakari MP, has continued to deliver important projects for the Point Cook community. Construction is now underway on several new education facilities, including the Point Cook South Specialist School, the Point Cook South P–9 School, and an on-site kindergarten. Space has also been set aside for a future senior campus catering for Years 10–12. The specialist school and P–9 school are scheduled to open in Term 1, 2026, with the kindergarten expected to open in 2027.

Work has also commenced on the new Point Cook Police Station, located on Point Cook Homestead Road. Once completed, the community will benefit from a comprehensive suite of emergency services, including a police station, ambulance station, Fire Rescue Victoria, CFA station, a new SES facility, the volunteer coastguard service, and lifesaving services at Werribee South Beach over summer.

These developments reflect a strong commitment to supporting the safety, education and wellbeing of the growing Point Cook community.
