Planning High-Risk Travel - Professional Skills Workshop

Completing risk assessments is an essential professional skill for any staff member or researcher carrying out fieldwork in high-risk contexts.
This interactive face-to-face session will explore factors to be considered when planning travel to high-risk destinations or where other factors elevate risk in moderate or low-risk destinations (e.g. timings, purpose, activities, individual vulnerabilities, etc.).

This workshop will ensure staff and PGR students have the necessary skills and confidence to complete risk assessments for high-risk travel and identify appropriate mitigations to ensure risks are tolerable.

Understanding Risk Assessments

An important part of planning your research is to ensure you have identified and are controlling any risks to the health and safety of yourself, your colleagues, and your participants.

This face-to-face session will give you an understanding of the key concepts of risk assessment and how they should be applied to your research. Good understanding of this process will support your ethics applications for your research proposals.

This session will provide an understanding of when to start, how to complete, and what is required for completing a risk assessment for research projects.
