Virtual Speaker Session: Equity in Higher STEM Education

After 20 years of research in mathematics, Nate Brown’s focus switched to education. Specifically, he now studies (in)equity in higher STEM education. Brown will discuss what motivated the transition and present some work demonstrating the enormous disparities that still exist. He will conclude with suggestions for improving the educational ecosystem and, hopefully, leveling the playing field so everyone with talent, interest, and drive can be successful in STEM. Registration is required.
