A Message from Our CEO, Leanne Down

As I celebrate my one-year anniversary with the Committee for Wyndham, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we've made together. This year has been a journey of collaboration, growth, and advocacy for our local businesses and community and thank you for being part of that journey.

Over the weekend, the results of the federal election were announced, with the Labor Government led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese forming government. As we move forward, we remain focused on the work ahead. As a non-partisan organisation, we are committed to continuing collaborating with all elected MPs to ensure that the voices of Wyndham’s businesses are heard. Our goal is to continue advocating for our region’s growth, prosperity, and development in the years to come. The Committee will continue to work together with all stakeholders to drive positive change and support the ongoing success of our community.

An Exclusive VIP Experience at Werribee Open Range Zoo: Behind the Scenes with the Elephants

Our members enjoyed an unforgettable VIP after-hours experience at the Werribee Open Range Zoo, exploring the newly opened Elephant Waterhole & Trail—a world-class 21-hectare space designed to support the wellbeing of Zoos Victoria’s growing Asian elephant herd.

This expansive habitat provides a more natural environment for the elephants, including three young calves, offering them space to roam, graze, and socialise. The relocation from Melbourne Zoo to Werribee ensures a more enriching space for their growth and development.

Guests had the rare opportunity to view the elephants up close and hear from their dedicated keepers about the vital conservation efforts to protect this endangered species.

Our recent Business Leaders Lunch brought together a dynamic group of members for an afternoon of connection, learning, and leadership inspiration.

We were privileged to host Daniel Considine, CEO of Secon Freight Logistics, who shared a powerful story of Secon’s growth from a family-owned business into an industry leader. His candid reflections on leadership, innovation, and building a resilient workplace culture resonated with many in the room—proving once again that learning from the experiences of others is one of the most valuable ways organisations can strengthen their own journey.
