Each year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and so many momentous things have been achieved at CHHS this year as was outlined at the Annual Awards last week and in our school magazine, Delphis. Throughout all of these activities, students and staff have approached them with enthusiasm, dedication and strength of character whilst demonstrating our core values of respect, responsibility and doing your best. This was very evident with the number of students being recognised for their outstanding achievements and receiving awards last week and also at the Big Night Out where the talents of many of our students, as well as our staff, were on show. Congratulations to all involved in both events, really well done!
The results achieved by students in this year’s HSC were very good with many students achieving personal bests across both face to face and distance education. Many students achieved Bands 5 and 6 in individual subjects and one of our DE students, Toby Hill, achieved first in NSW for Indonesian Beginners. Congratulations to Toby and his teacher, Mr Rourke. All students and staff are to be congratulated with the hard work they have put in over the past two years being rewarded. Many students have already received early entry into university courses.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help, support and interest during the year. We have had another very busy and successful year and you, as partners in the education of your children, deserve much of the credit for that.  Many thanks also go to our students, student leaders, teaching and non-teaching staff, members of the P&C and our broader community.  It is the support of the entire school community that helps make our school a great place to connect, succeed and thrive.
For those leaving CHHS this year I would like to wish you all the best for the future.  I look forward to working with all the members of our school community next year with collaboration and cooperation to further improve the positive learning outcomes of our students.
The school will be open on Monday 23  and  Tuesday 24 January for inquiries.
School resumes for our in coming Year 7, Year 11 and Year 12 students on Tuesday 31 January with all year groups returning on Wednesday 1 February.
I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a safe and happy summer vacation - see you in 2023.

Mrs M Hutchinson

Year 7 Stingray Class Creating Animation

The end of the term is near. Exams are over. Reports have been written. Learning is still happening in English. 7 Stingrays are creatively designing an animated film using clay or Lego blocks. Firstly, a storyboard was designed around the shot types, basic image and dialogue or sound that they intended to use. Then the fun part started. Making the clay / Lego figures. Students then took photos (300 frames per 30 second movie) and placed them into a video app to create the movie. This is when they add their opening credits, sound and edit to perfection - well, that's the hope :)

HSC DE Student Toby H Tops State in Indonesian

Congratulations to Camden Haven High School Distance Education student, Toby H, who achieved first in NSW in the HSC for Indonesian Beginners.
Toby's very proud teacher Mr Rourke says, "Toby really deserves this because he demonstrated all the attributes required for success. He attended his weekly lessons without fail, completed all course work, listened to and implemented all feedback and did many past papers prior to the HSC. In addition, he is a lovely young man and extremely humble. He hopes to pursue his Indonesian further by travelling to Indonesia in the future. He can see himself in a role which combines his love of Indonesian with a career in engineering. I am extremely proud of Toby's achievement and wish him every success."

A highlight for one of our students from our Gunnedah Hub was being sponsored by Rotary to attend the Rymarine program at Southern Cross University / Research Centre at Coffs Harbour.
