Congratulations to our new State Champions!  It’s always exciting when students excel and do their best in their chosen fields, but even more exciting when they are awarded the kudos they work so hard to attain.  Kyla and Adam are our new NSW Open Robocup Champions, and our Year 7 team of Aurora and Zion were named runners-up.  Congratulations to the entire team, and their teachers, for such an outstanding result.
There are many great results taking place throughout the school at the moment.  Please continue reading through this newsletter and you will see many of them in more depth.  Congratulations to everyone who has achieved their best and made themselves, their family and their school, proud.
Year 12 are at the pointy end of their studies, with many currently completing the practical component of their courses.  Good luck to everyone who will be undertaking a practical examination, or submitting a practical project, over the next couple of weeks. Just a reminder that the Graduation Assembly will be held on Thursday 22 September in the MPC.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents, and senior students with licences, that the staff car park is for staff only.  Parents who are picking up students, or visiting with teachers, may park in the bus bay during the hours of 9.30-3.00, otherwise you are please requested to park in Valley View Road.  Also, there is a No Stopping sign in the small roundabout at the gate, and everyone is reminded that this is not a pickup or drop off zone.  We are aware that it can become very congested in Valley View Road during the afternoon pick up and ask that everyone please be very careful when collecting students or leaving the premises after school.
All the best to Year 12 as they head into the final weeks of their schooling prior to the HSC examinations.  Study hard and you will reap the rewards.

Cooper Competes at Queensland Raceway

Congratulations to Cooper who competed for the first time on the track at Queensland Raceway, Ipswich. Overall it was a fantastic weekend with Cooper winning in his second race on Saturday.  Unfortunately due to a fault with the clutch, he was unable to compete in the 175km Enduro race partnering with V8 Super Car driver Steven Owen on the Sunday. Cooper is looking forward to next year when he will again have the opportunity. Well done Cooper!!

2022 Ninja Warrior

It’s Thursday 28 July and everywhere, except the MPC, it is a normal day at Camden Haven High School. Students prepare for another barrage of academic stimulation and teachers lay waiting like poised lions ready to strike at the minds of tomorrow. Inside the MPC and it is a different world. Upstairs is swarming with people, busily trying to set the stage; downstairs it's dark and enigmatic. Random structures scatter the floor waiting to entertain and delight.  Seconds later the arena is filled like a commercial airliner with buzzing students. The atmosphere whirs with excitement.

Under 15's Girls' Basketball

The Under 15 Girls' Basketball team went to Port Macquarie last Thursday to play against a range of schools from the area. The girls did an amazing job coming third overall with only a couple of the girls having experience playing competitive basketball prior to the day.
They took on a very talented Hastings Secondary College (Port Campus) group first up and held their own until the last quarter where they struggled to defend the well drilled team. Going into their second match, they played Wauchope High who had a big fan base cheering them on. The girls kept their nerves and broke away in the second quarter to a nice lead. From there, they continued to improve and finished the game strongly, beating Wauchope High quite convincingly.
The girls should be extremely proud of themselves. They showed great skills, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day and represented our school brilliantly. Well done girls and a big thank you to all the student helpers, Mr Roberts and Miss Britt.

My Future Finder Workshop

Year 10 students were given an opportunity to work with UNE representative, Elizabeth Argue, and complete the My Future Finder workshop. This workshop is designed to assist students to focus on career options that suit their differing personality styles. Through self reflection and the understandings gained from this experience, these students are now better equipped to explore professional pathways that complement their own attributes and qualities. All participants enjoyed the workshop and expressed the value in attending something that helps them to make positive decisions on their future.

News from Bellingen Learning Hub

Bellingen Learning Hub

Here we are in Week 6 and a few changes have occurred. We have received two students from Dorrigo High – Charlotte W in Year 9 (Darcy’s younger sister). She has settled in very well and is super organised with her work. She rides horses in competitions on weekends which keeps her fitness levels up. We also have Kyra C in Year 10, who wants to work in Childcare and currently has two days a week at the local day care centre. This is an excellent opportunity for Kyra and will prepare the way for further study in this area.
Some exciting news is the transition back to Bellingen High for Naomi W in Year 9. She is currently attending school 3-4 days a week participating in her elective subjects (Ag, Ceramics and Visual Arts). She has been going for about three weeks now, is making new and renewing old friendships and is enjoying the social side of school as well as the academic. Naomi has shown a determination and confidence by returning to school which is a credit to her. She also tries to keep up with DE work when she is not at school.
Quinton H has been coming quite regularly to the Hub this term. He spends two hours each week usually working on Maths and / or PDHPE. We have regular chats with a few laughs along the way which makes learning fun and the time flies by. He is interested in studying digital gaming so he can work from home. He has a lot of experience in the subject as he games regularly at home in his room, playing others online. He is saving up to buy better equipment and furniture to suit his gaming endeavours.
It is great seeing all these students working to their full potential. They all have clear goals and want to finish the year having completed all major tasks. I am encouraged to see them take on each challenge and never give up when things get difficult.
Here are some photos of our hard working students:
