Another golden week for bowls! Club Leaders Program continuesAs part of the Club Leaders Programme, on Tuesday 5 September, Bowls Auckland hosted the first Club Leaders – Operational (Secretaries and Managers) meeting at Mt Eden Bowling Club. The workshop-based session focussed on BowlsHub and was the first stage in a proactive club support plan. The priority for this session was to provide insight into BowlsHub from a club, player, and administrative level, focussing on key features and benefits to assist those clubs who choose to adopt it. Brendon Walton, Club Partner – Operations, commented, "It was awesome to assist clubs in furthering their knowledge of BowlsHub as we look to support clubs and players through the new platform. We know change is hard, and things don’t always work perfectly, but we are committed to ensuring BowlsHub is the best it can be and caters to the many wants of clubs and players. We look forward to the next session, and please do reach out to us – we are only too happy to help.” Two further events are coming up for the Club Leaders Programme: firstly President’s Day in early October and then another Club Leaders – Operational meeting in early December. As always, a massive thanks to all those who
participated! Two more golds & two new world champsIt’s been a hugely successful day on the green for New Zealand Deaf Bowlers in Edinburgh. Overnight Auckland’s Adam Baillie won gold in the Men’s Singles Final against Scotland, 21-11, and Hazel Littlejohn from Canterbury in the Women’s Singles, 21-12. Becoming world champions is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations Adam and Hazel. Auckland 1-5 Year trials underwayThe first stage of trials for the 2023-2024 1-5 representative squad was held this week on Wednesday evening at Remuera Bowling Club. A 20-strong squad carrying through from last year took the bench while over 40 of Auckland’s up-and-coming 1-5 hopefuls put their talents on display in a preliminary trial. More success for Kiwis

Henderson Bowls was one of the worst clubs hit by Cyclone Gabrielle at the end of January – our four greens were severely damaged, including the carpet surface, which completely lifted off its base.
Through the hard work and effort of all parties involved, such as the Auckland Council, insurance companies, Bowls New Zealand, Bowls Auckland and Henderson Bowling Inc., the replacement carpet was finally completed on Friday, 25 August.
A rollup for members was immediately organised for the following day, an afternoon enjoyed by all. Since then, the Open Triples on Tuesday and the Open Hong Kong 2-4-2 Pairs on Friday have returned.
During the seven months of not having playable greens, we were fortunate enough to have several clubs offer their help and support. A special mention goes to Hobsonville Bowling Club and Te Atatu Peninsula for allowing us to run our Tuesday Open Triples.
Te Atatu Peninsula then allowed HBC to complete all its club championships and secondary events before the season ended.
Our Opening Day for the new 2023-2024 season is on Saturday, 16 September at 12.30pm.
Dignitaries, representatives of other clubs, bowls organisations and sponsors are invited to attend.
