In this edition, we are highlighting our new season of our Choice and Control podcast, focusing on accessible and inclusive sport, from community sport to the Paralympic Games. We put the spotlight on regional NDIS participants Rhiannon, Olivia and Matthew, who are working hard on their employment goals. Do you want to work for yourself? Or perhaps you already do, or know someone with this goal? Our Be Your Own Boss Microbusiness Project is taking Expressions of Interest. Haircut with a differenceFor Rhiannon and Olivia, developing their customer service and hairdressing skills at a Toowoomba hair salon is working wonders for both the girls and the business. Matthew working on his goalsRockhampton local Matthew is using his NDIS-funded support workers to help him work at his local McDonald's and get out and about in the community with his wife and friends. Podcast: Inclusive sportThe new season of our Choice and Control podcast is all about accessible and inclusive sport. Sport has so much to offer everyone, from physical and mental health and friendship to a sense of achievement and a shared community. When everybody has the opportunity to participate in sport, everybody benefits - the individual, the team, and the whole society. We speak with Paralympians, community change-makers, delve into inclusive sports programs and explore how to overcome barriers in sport. Making friends the key for OliverOliver is happy making new friends and playing toy dinosaurs and superhero games with his younger brothers, thanks to the supports he is now receiving from the NDIS. Out in the communityThis month we will be out and about at local events, including our Be Your Own Boss Marketplace in Ipswich for International Day of People With Disability.
