Director's Message

Dear All,

Welcome to the new post-restructured University with its new Faculties and Services. It may take a little while for us all to adjust as we find our feet, implement all changes and fill vacant positions. I would like to sincerely thank you for your ongoing patience in the interim.

With the borders fully open and COVID-19 managed across the world, the University has revised its direction and international (and interstate) travel is allowed for vaccinated staff and students.

Consequently, I want to give you a heads up that we are opening a travel scholarship round in the next few weeks. Information on how to apply will be forthcoming. More detail on travel approval processes is available on the University Travel page and FAQs on the COVID-19 website.

As winter is coming, I am very pleased to let you know that the University is now offering free Influenza vaccinations for all higher degree by research students through the Pharmacy Guild Corporate Program. You can find more information and how to book an appointment on the Wellbeing Website. Although the mask mandate was relaxed last week, masks are still a very effective measure to protect from nasty pathogens, especially during the cold seasons. Hence, the University will continue to make masks available in some areas and the personal choice to wear a mask should be respected.

Take care and best wishes,
Doreen

Director, Adelaide Graduate Research School

Tip of the Month

We are still getting a lot of emails to our old generic email address. Please ensure to direct enquiries to our new email address graduate.research@adelaide.edu.au and our new Administrative Assistant Jessica Gibbs will attend to them.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

A Unique Student Identifier [USI] is a reference number that creates an online record of your qualifications attained in Australia. All students need a USI  to receive a qualification upon successful completion from 2023.

To create your USI, please visit the Australian Government’s website. The personal details you provide here must be exactly the same as those on record at the University of Adelaide. Once created, log into Access Adelaide and enter your USI in the Statistical Section page, under the ‘Students’ menu. Please contact Ask Adelaide if you require assistance.

For international and offshore students, further information is available here; offshore international students are not required to provide a USI.

The Adelaide Graduate Research School maintains a searchable database of available scholarship opportunities (both full scholarships and supplementary scholarships), funded by both the University of Adelaide and external funding bodies. While the majority of available scholarships are awarded as part of the standard admission and scholarship rounds for domestic and international students, some are awarded at different times throughout the year, and may have a separate application process.

Visit the Postgraduate Scholarships website regularly for up to date information on current scholarship opportunities.

The competition opens Monday 30 May 2022 and submissions will be accepted until Friday 8 July 2022. For more details, to view our showcase of past entrants and, most importantly, to register visit the Visualise Your Thesis webpage.
