Welcome to GIM ![]() Ms. Sharena Griswold previously supported the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team. In her current role with General Internal Medicine (GIM), she supports the GIM Leadership Team, including Dr. Saria Hassan, Dr. Jada Bussey-Jones, Dr. Danielle Jones, Jason Freiji, and Ted Johnson.Her professional background includes overseeing budgets, processing reimbursements, managing vendor payments, organizing travel, and facilitating key departmental projects. She is a certified professional in Neurodiversity from Florida State University and a proud graduate of Emory’s Aspiring Leaders program. Known for her dedication to fostering collaborative and efficient work environments, Sharena combines her fast-paced energy with a commitment to detail and professionalism. Outside of work, she enjoys professional development opportunities, exploring effective communication strategies, and spending time with her family. Sharena is passionate about continuous learning and making meaningful contributions to her community. ![]() Ms. Lakeshia Stinson is the new Assistant Director of Programs at the School of Medicine Division of General Internal Medicine. She is taking on many of Ms. Betty Webb's responsibilities. Ms. Stinson has a Bachelor of Biology with a concentration of Pharmacy and a Master of Public Health concentrated in Health Promotion. She has 10 years of experience in pharmacy, years of experience in several areas of medicine such as allergy, ENT, and reproductive health and an expertise in clinical operations, process improvement, and succession planning. She is overjoyed and excited to join the Emory team and be a part of the GIM division. Hosted by SGIM President Dr. Jada Bussey-Jones, the SGIM President’s Podcast will feature insights from current and past Society of General Internal Medicine Presidents and leaders. These conversations highlight diverse general internal medicine leaders across health care, public health, policy, and academia discussing the challenges of our evolving healthcare environment. Dr. Kimberly Manning delivered the Jordan C. Cohen Humanism in Medicine lecture at the 2024 AAMC Learn Serve Lead Annual Meeting. Her powerful speech discussed the enduring role human connection plays in medicine, even with advances in technology. Read more. ![]() Last month at the Mercer School of Medicine Research Day, Dr. Marshall Fleurant and his student won best epidemiological poster for his work "Trauma Informed Care: A Focus on Black Men." In addition, Dr. Fleurant was an invited speaker at the Rollins Society for Public Health and Medicine on the topic of "How physicians can integrate public health into their practice." Emory’s Healthy Kitchen Collaborative team received the 2023 Teaching Kitchen Collaborative Research Paper of the Year award for their paper: A teaching kitchen program improves employee micronutrient and healthy dietary consumption. Dr. Miranda Moore, the paper’s first author, accepted the award at the Annual Member Meeting in Salt Lake City in November. ![]() ![]()
![]() Dr. Reema Dbouk and Dr. Pamela Vohra-Khullar's submission, Augmented Response Technology and Education to Optimize MyChart Queries for Primary Care Nurses, has been selected for funding as part of the FY 25 Emory Healthcare Innovation Challenge. Their innovative approach and compelling proposal truly impressed the judges! In the News WAGA-TV 📺 | First case of bird flu reported in child (Dr. Neil Winawer interviewed) Dr. Jason Schneider was interviewed for Politically Georgia (AJC/WABE) about gender-affirming care Dr. Mark Spencer had an opinion piece published in the Atlanta Community Press Collective titled Decarceration: The Urgent and Necessary Solution to Georgia's Prison Crisis. ![]() The scholarship corner is a space to share opportunities to help further the scholarship interests of our GIM faculty!
