LAW ALERT: Thursday committee vote!
On Thursday, July 30th, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee will hold a vote on one of ACCT's longtime advocacy goals, the College Transparency Act (CTA).
Current law does not fully recognize community college students’ transfer, completion, and employment outcomes. Required federal reporting only includes student outcome data for first-time, full-time college students who begin in fall, which applies to only 12 percent of community college students.
This means that the CTA would account for all community college students, reward transfers, and make data reporting less burdensome. Current law only reports on student outcome data for first-time, full-time (FTFT) college students who begin in fall, which captures less than half of community college students.
This key piece of legislation needs your help to continue generating momentum. Reach out to your Members of Congress BY THURSDAY, JULY 30 and tell them to pass the College Transparency Act.
