New President to lead World BowlsCongratulations Brett O’Riley on your new appointment as President of World Bowls. Bowls North Harbour patron, and Takapuna club member, Brett O’Riley, has achieved the top administrative position in the game when this this week he became president of World Bowls. O’Riley, who for the past two years, has been the board’s Oceania zone director, was appointed for a two-year term as World Bowls president. O’Riley comes to the role with impressive credentials, both in the sport and from the high positions he has held in the business and corporate worlds. Auckland to host two international bowls competitionsThe global bowls focus shines on New Zealand from this week with two international competitions to be staged in Auckland. Southern Hemisphere bowls will be showcased this week with the second Oceania Challenge featuring the national teams from Cook Islands, Niue, Norfolk Island, Samoa, Tokelau and Tonga, the Australia Performance Pathway team and two from New Zealand – an Aotearoa Māori team, and a New Zealand Under-26 team. The event carries World Bowls Series status and will feature singles, pairs, triples and fours from Thursday until Sunday with qualifying at both Royal Oak and New Lynn clubs with all finals at Royal Oak.
