The day helps everyone understand that compassion for others is what binds us all together. It’s a day people from around the globe come together to create a chain reaction of compassion by performing random acts of kindness. The goal is simple – spread as many smiles as possible across our planet. Of course, we should strive to be as kind as possible every day, but this is perhaps a day to make a particular effort to be generous and kind to others. Keeping our bowling community safeWith the health and well-being of our bowls community being top of mind, Auckland Bowls Board fully supports a vaccinated bowls community. Therefore, we will be following the same approach as Bowls New Zealand. Auckland Bowls will only use bowling club facilities for Auckland Centre events that require a vaccination certificate for club entry and our host clubs to require a vaccination certificate. Click here to read our full statement. Back on the greenThe sun was shining down on Auckland in more ways than one this week. Auckland moved into Alert Level 3 Step 2, signalling an easing of lockdown restrictions. For our bowling community, one of the changes is an expansion to the number of people able to take to the green... of course, while following the protocols. How nice it has been to see bowlers having dusted the cobwebs off their bowls and back to bowling. More people playing and enjoying bowls!
Masked up and ready for a roll-up this Thursday, members of Kohimarama Bowls were also happy to model their new club uniforms! Auckland in Alert Level 3, Step 2 Yes, we made it! Check out our guide on how clubs can operate under the new level. About our clubsBucklands Beach Bowling Club — established 1929 1940’s White clothing had to be worn; no other colour was permitted. Dresses or skirts were to be worn below the knee and the sleeve underarm had to measure a minimum of five inches. Eventually, club shirts were allowed. Jewellery was banned except for engagement and wedding rings, no bangles, only one fine gold chain at the neck, stud earrings, only. A doctor’s certificate had to be obtained for a player to wear slacks. CHANGES TO EVENTS 18 & 25 November – Bowls3Five 1-5 Interclub – rescheduled to 2, 9 & 16 December.
