Student Success Stories

Congratulations to the following students!

Congratulations to Paul! He recently passed his last GED test and is now a graduate. He attended an information session about Community College of Beaver County (CCBC)  and is now contemplating starting there and continuing on to a degree in horticulture. Best of luck!

Dalila came to the U.S. last October from Algeria. Dalila and her husband knew that U.S. offered greater job opportunities, so they made the difficult decision to leave their homeland. Dalila began learning English at Literacy Pittsburgh in July. She and her 5-year-old Haroun attend classes in our family literacy program. Leaving her homeland behind was not easy, but Dalila is grateful for the support she received in Pittsburgh.

Aunel Kimbembe-Makaya is a student in Teacher Amanda's academic English class. He is a documentary filmmaker from Congo. Recently, his documentary film project "Letter to Maya" was selected for the Heinz Creative Award 2023. Congratulations, Aunel!

Samuel graduated Tuesday, September 26, and by Wednesday, he had already sent in his application to Robert Morris University! He is hoping to start attending by January 2024 and is looking forward to a career in the healthcare field. Good luck, Samuel!
