Volunteer Opportunity Spotlight: Off-Campus Clutter for a Cause

Started by the cross-departmental sustainability team with many partners in 2013, Clutter for a Cause has helped keep over 40,000 pounds of materials out of the landfill from 2018 to 2022. In Spring 2022, Clutter for a Cause collected a record breaking 21,689 pounds of materials (over 10 tons) during student move-out that may have otherwise gone to landfills.

The Off-Campus Clutter for a Cause takes place at Zulema Parklet on July 20 and 27, and targets donations from off-campus students and long-term residents. Volunteers are needed to help collect and sort donations.

Blue Neighbors - Visit or Call a Senior

Blue Neighbors matches volunteers with a senior member to create social connection through friendly phone calls, visits, book clubs, or virtual events. Volunteers are matched with a senior where, on your own schedule, you may visit, call, or meet virtually 1-2 hours per month.

Online training that takes less than one hour is offered for volunteers. The seniors sign legal waivers to protect you, and Blue Neighbors ensures healthy boundaries for all. Blue Neighbors has been facilitating friendships for over 25 years and their seniors make great friends.

To apply to volunteer, please visit the Blue Neighbors website.
