COVID-19 Medical
Response Office

The campus-wide shelter-in-place period on the Pittsburgh campus will end at 7 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2022. As a result, the Pittsburgh campus will resume normal activities and classes will be in person. People who are positive for COVID-19 or symptomatic should not attend class in person.

At this stage in the pandemic, we should begin shifting focus away from case counts as the key measure of how to keep our campus functioning despite the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Pitt has very high vaccination rates. On the Pittsburgh campus, over 96% of students, 97% of faculty and 93% of staff are fully vaccinated. Vaccinated individuals are, on average, less likely to be contagious and less likely to get severely ill from COVID-19. Despite the protection vaccination offers, we do need to keep mitigating to protect ourselves and surrounding communities.

Pitt’s health rules still apply. Wear a well-fitted face covering, get boosted, and wash your hands frequently. This is especially important when eating in shared spaces. Be sensible about sharing meals outside of designated dining facilities with people whose vaccination or COVID-19 status is unknown.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please call Student Health Service immediately at 412-383-1800 and limit your contact with others. Symptomatic faculty and staff should call MyHealth@Work at 412-647-4949.

Find information for all your COVID-19 questions at coronavirus.pitt.edu.

Thank you for doing your part to keep the campus and surrounding community as healthy as possible.

Sincerely,

The COVID-19 Medical Response Office
