Out of the Blue

Welcome to Meee Moments #85

This month, we're exploring a wonderful idea inspired by a book I recently finished by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia.

We often use the phrase to describe something unexpected...an idea, an opportunity, a conversation, or a moment that changes everything.

But perhaps these moments don't appear by chance.

Perhaps they find us because we've created the space to notice them. Because we've created the space to think, to listen, to wonder, and to ask, "What if?"

Throughout this month's Meee Moments, we'll explore how the most meaningful discoveries, acts of kindness, and moments of inspiration often arrive when we least expect them.

So this month, stay curious.

Because you never know what might come... Out of the Blue.

This is one of our favourite photographs of Olly. It was taken after he surprised a friend who was feeling sad with flowers, chocolates, and his time. Years later, we're still close to that friend. Olly's kindness lives on. ❤️

#70 Stuart Stephens – Olly's Legacy: Turning Heartbreak into Hope

Some conversations stay with you long after they've ended.

This is one of them.

In this month's Just Meee Podcast, Stuart Stephens shares the story of his son, Olly – a bright, kind and much-loved 13-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in 2021.

But this conversation is about far more than loss. It's about love, legacy, and the responsibility we all share to better understand the world our children are growing up in.

Rather than allowing heartbreak to define their future, Stuart and his wife Amanda have dedicated themselves to raising awareness of online harms and helping families have the conversations that could save lives.

This is an honest, emotional and thought-provoking conversation that asks an important question:

How do we create a world where children are free to simply be children?

Thank you, Stuart, for your courage, compassion, and determination to ensure that Olly's legacy continues to protect future generations.

“You can’t wait until you have all the answers before you act.”
Yvon Chouinard

Let My People Go Surfing

This book has been out since 2016 so I'm 10 years behind reading it. But, if you believe everything happens when it's meant to then that's why I read it just now.

Yvon Chouinard and his team had been searching for a better fabric for outdoor clothing, something lighter, warmer, and more practical than what already existed. They knew where they wanted to go, but not exactly how to get there.

Then, seemingly out of the blue, while walking around a sporting goods show in Chicago, they spotted a demonstration of American football jerseys made from polypropylene being cleaned of grass stains.

That small moment sparked a huge idea. Patagonia went on to develop one of the first polypropylene base layers for outdoor clothing.

Chouinard adds that:

“You can’t wait until you have all the answers before you act.”

That really stayed with me.

So often in life, we wait for certainty before we begin, the perfect plan, the right timing, complete confidence. But life rarely works like that. Growth often comes through movement, curiosity, experimentation, and trusting the process before we can fully see the outcome.

Sometimes the breakthrough comes because we started before we felt ready.

As Louis Pasteur once said:

“Chance favours the prepared mind.”

Perhaps the next opportunity, idea, or change in direction is already waiting for us, if we’re willing to stay open enough to notice it. ✨

And, if you're older like me you may remember the album Out of the Blue by ELO. An album that continuously being played on the record deck at school, years before CD's and Spotify. Here's a link if you'd like a listen or refresher.

Out of the Blue

Have you ever wondered where ideas come from?

Where imagination begins. Where creativity lives.

Or how one small thought can grow into something that changes a life, a business, or even the world.

We often say a great idea came "out of the blue."

But perhaps it isn't quite so mysterious.

Maybe ideas come to those who are curious. To those who notice. To those who keep asking, "What if?"

The next idea that shapes your future could arrive during a walk, a conversation, a quiet moment, or when you least expect it.

So stay curious.

Because you never know when something extraordinary might appear... out of the blue.

We'd love to hear about an idea that changed your life: curious@meee.global

What Are Our Children Becoming?

Sometimes it can feel as though anxiety or poor mental health comes out of the blue.

But does it?

New figures show that more than one million children were referred to mental health services in England last year, with anxiety remaining the biggest reason.

Perhaps these feelings don't appear overnight. Perhaps they grow quietly, hidden beneath the surface, unnoticed until someone finally asks, "Are you OK?"

It reminds us that the most important conversations often begin long before a crisis.

A few extra minutes.
A little more curiosity.
A little less judgement.
A little more listening.

We may not always recognise when someone is struggling, but we can all help create environments where people feel safe enough to say they are.

Sometimes hope doesn't arrive out of the blue.

Sometimes it begins with one conversation.

“Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas.”
Marie Curie

What If...?

What if the next idea that changes your life arrives when you least expect it?

What if this season isn't about searching harder, but about noticing more?

The My Meee app is here to help you create the space where those moments can happen.

With reflective tools, mood tracking, and thoughtful prompts, it encourages you to pause, pay attention, and explore the thoughts, ideas, and possibilities that often arrive when your mind is open.

Because breakthroughs rarely happen when we're rushing.

They appear in moments of curiosity.
In quiet reflection.
In unexpected conversations.

Out of the blue.

This month, give yourself permission to pause.

To notice more.
To wonder more.
To ask, "What if?"

Because the next great idea, opportunity, or moment of clarity might be closer than you think.

Let the My Meee app support your journey — one reflection, one insight, one unexpected discovery at a time.

Every day holds the possibility of something unexpected.

A new idea.
A different perspective.
A chance encounter.
A simple conversation that changes everything.

As we move through this month, may you create space for the moments that can't be planned and the opportunities that often arrive when you least expect them.

Slow down.
Look up.
Stay curious.

Because inspiration rarely arrives when we're searching for it.

It appears when we're open enough to notice it.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the Meee journey.

Find it. Live it. Give it.

Because sometimes the most extraordinary moments come... Out of the Blue. 💙

Keep looking. Keep wondering. Keep noticing.
