The 2022 Annual NCCRED symposium is being held on Monday 7th November in Canberra 10:30am - 4pm. The symposium will present new clinical research findings which have the potential to transform healthcare responses to methamphetamine and emerging drugs.

Introducing the Drug and Alcohol Research and Innovation Active-Learning (DARIA) Network
DARIA is a virtual, weekly seminar program delivered by the National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED) and the St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Alcohol and Drug Service (SVHS ADS).
Next Mondays presenter is Dr Suzie Hudson, Clinical Advisor to the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs at the NSW Ministry of Health. A mental health Social Worker with over 20 years experience in the AOD, mental health and forensic fields, here in Australia and overseas - Suzie has worked in all areas of AOD treatment, continues to provide therapy in private practice and is an Adjunct Lecturer with NCCRED and NDARC.
Suzie will be presenting on Case Management and Care Planning: Applying the NSW Health Clinical Care Standards in the AOD sector
The aim of the series is to promote innovative practice and share learnings and new ideas among clinicians and clinical researchers working in the field of methamphetamine, emerging drugs and other areas of alcohol and drug health. Attendees are encouraged and welcome to ask questions or comment at all sessions

Alcohol and Other Drug Telephone Counselling Toolkit - available now
Leveraging off the expertise of telephone counsellors from Adis 24/7 Alcohol and Drug Support in Queensland, NCCRED, in collaboration with Insight: Centre for alcohol and other drug training and workforce development, have published a new AOD Telephone Counselling toolkit containing eLearning modules, videos, tip sheets and other resources.
eLearning Module 1 provides an overview of the evidence-base, benefits and challenges of providing AOD counselling and brief interventions over the telephone, and includes some of the practical and technical considerations professionals and services should consider.
eLearning Module 2 focuses specifically on how to respond to more complex presentations including callers who have suicidal ideation, are intoxicated, experiencing withdrawal or displaying aggression, as well as sexualised and hoax calls.
The toolkit also features videos of experienced telephone counsellors sharing their insights and experiences, as well as downloadable activity sheets you can use during a telephone counselling session with your clients.
