The competition featured two four-member teams from the neighbouring clubs of St Heliers, Glendowie, Remuera, and Kohi, with each team's junior experience capped at 14 years. A lively crowd cheered on the players throughout the day, with the final Fours games providing the highlight. The St Heliers Fab Four, boasting two Auckland 1-5 champs, were the favourites. However, an early defeat to the host team, Kohi Keas, in the Triples set the stage for a competitive tournament. The Fab Four rebounded from their initial loss, winning all their remaining games to finish second with 9 win points, 35 ends, and a +24 points differential. Meanwhile, the Kohi Keas, after dropping their first Singles game, dominated the rest of the event, securing 11 win points, 41 ends, and a +29 points differential to clinch the title. The second Kohi team, the Kiwis, placed third with 6 win points. The Kohi Keas not only took home the Kohi Eastern Junior Classic Cup but also earned local bragging rights. With fantastic weather and unanimous agreement to continue the event next year, the Kohi Eastern Junior Classic's inaugural run was a resounding success and a vibrant addition to the local sports scene.
