RDA Illawarra Board Member Craig Osborne awarded OAM

RDA Illawarra congratulates Craig Osborne for being awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Kings Honours List for 2023.  Craig was awarded this honour in recognition of his service to the community of the Illawarra region.  This includes his roles with UOW, as well as being a board member and Secretary of RDA Illawarra since 2012.

Craig gives his time and expertise to the community of the Illawarra in many capacities as a board member of a number of organisations and as an advisor and mentor to business and community leaders. He has twice been named Illawarra Business Person of the Year and is the Managing Partner of RMB Lawyers, one of the largest regional based law firms in NSW.

We warmly thank Craig for his valuable contribution and commitment over so many years to RDA Illawarra and the Illawarra community.

 

Growing Regions Program Round 1 opens this month   


The Growing Regions Program – Round 1 delivers grants up to a maximum of $15 million over 3 years to deliver community infrastructure projects.

Grants between $500,000 and $15 million to cover 50% or more of eligible expenditure are available for eligible projects.

Two stage application process – Expression of Interest then full application

  • EOIs open 5 July 2023 and close 1 August 2023
  • Suitable for > $1 million projects that are shovel ready
  • Grants $500k - $15m
  • 50% co-funding required
  • Project start by May 2024 and complete by 31 December 2025
  • Building new and upgrading existing community infrastructure

2023 Tallawarra Community Grants Round 1 OPEN NOW


EnergyAustralia Tallawarra is proud to provide community funding for local initiatives that will deliver sustainable benefits to the Illawarra region. Round 1 will see $25,000 distributed to the local community with grants of up to $10,000 available.

Applications are open now and close 5pm, 31 July 2023.

EnergyAustralia has two priority areas for grant funding:

Education: Funding aimed at promoting education and knowledge acquisition. This can include programs with a social or environmental focus and organisations which support career or skill development. 

Social inclusion: Funding aimed at facilitating social inclusion. This is aimed at initiatives that support community cohesion and inclusion for all.  It can include such things as men's sheds, upgrading communal facilities, improving local amenities and supporting vulnerable community members.

South Pacific Offshore Wind project pushes ahead 

BlueFloat Energy is relaunching the South Pacific Offshore Wind Project, off the Illawarra coast between Shellharbour and Clifton.

  • The Project has capacity to generate 1.6 gigawatts, which is enough to power around 825,000 homes with renewable energy.
  • The Dapto switchyard is being considered as the connection point to move energy from where it’s generated into the grid. The preference is to use shared transmission infrastructure where possible.
  • Located around 14-30 km off the coast, the project is made up of approximately 105 floating wind turbines, three offshore substations and an onshore grid connection.
