Thank you for supporting the Trend Diabetes National Conference 2023We would like to thank all of the delegates that attended this year’s Trend Diabetes National Conference in London, Birmingham and Newcastle. Across all three days, more than 600 healthcare professionals attended the annual face-to-face event. This year we delivered the conference in Newcastle for the first time, so it is a delight to announce that we will be heading back to the North East in 2024, as well as London and Birmingham. One delegate said: “Excellent speakers, learnt so much more about diabetes, friendly and approachable sponsors.” Meanwhile, another said: ““Fabulous day, I found each session beneficial and learnt a lot, such interesting speakers. Looking forward to Trend 2024.” Additionally, one stated: “Good to gain knowledge on other aspects affecting diabetes, to meet other people involved in the care and to gain different perspectives within different care settings.” The Trend Diabetes Co-Chairs, Debbie Hicks and June James, have both now retired from clinical practice. However, Debbie and June will still lead the Trend Diabetes Clinical Committee – a group of clinicians setting the organisation’s priorities. The current priorities for Trend Diabetes include: · Supporting NHS England in the national rollout of an insulin delegation initiative · Updating materials on Injection Technique Matters (ITM). Continuation of ITM initiative with additional resources. Working with our sponsors GlucoRx, Owen Mumford and Lilly · Reviewing Trend Diabetes documents · Updating the Trend Diabetes app. We are excited to work on these projects throughout the rest of 2023. Date unveiled for Trend Diabetes National Conference 2024We are extremely delighted to announce the dates of next year’s Trend Diabetes National Conference. After a triumphant 2023 conference, the informative event will return next year on Friday, June 7, at the Thistle Hotel Marble Arch in London and on Friday, June 14, at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The annual event is highly recognised and aims to support diabetes healthcare professionals by sharing best practice, innovations and real-life experience. In this episode, Trend Co-Chair Debbie Hicks and Specialist Diabetes Nurse Dr Sue Cradock speak about consultation styles. They discuss the importance of understanding what the person with diabetes needs and why you should tailor consultations to suit the needs of each individual. Trend Diabetes' official podcasts cover all aspects of diabetes care. From current trends to key guidelines and recourses, the 'In conversation with' podcast is the go to place for diabetes care information. If you are a person with diabetes please discuss any issues with your diabetes team. Did you know that of the 350,000 digital health apps available in the UK, only 80% meet quality and safety standards? The result of this may be limited visibility into what apps people are using, how they are using them and whether there may be more higher quality options available. We have created a free CPD accredited course to help diabetes nurses working in the NHS understand what this technology is, how to identify the right solutions & how to safely prescribe them to people living with the condition. Is this course right for you?If you are a healthcare professional working with diabetes in the UK then you are almost certainly using some form of digital health technology with people with diabetes already. By building a foundation of knowledge about digital therapeutics you will be better equipped to advise people with diabetes on choosing the right app for their individual needs. Who are we?Hedia is a company that has built a diabetes management app that is available in 11 European countries including the UK.
