Travel Tips, SFO Style

The summer travel season is in full swing! On July 1, two airlines launched at SFO: ITA Airways with nonstop service to Rome and Norse with nonstop service to London Gatwick.

This summer, we also reached a post-pandemic travel milestone with over 80,000 departing passengers passing through the checkpoints for the first time in over three years! To celebrate, we've rounded up some travel tips to help you travel SFO style.

Secure parking by booking your spot ahead of time! With lots of travelers passing through the terminals, make parking a breeze by booking early at parking.flysfo.com.

Free Cell Waiting Lot awaits! Drivers picking up passengers can park in the lot while waiting for arriving travelers, conveniently located a short drive from all terminals. Get directions.

Open just in time for summer after two years of construction–AirTrain station at Harvey Milk Terminal 1 with departures every four minutes. Passengers can now ride the AirTrain to all terminals at SFO.

Rainbow Skies Ahead

Kicking off summer with Pride! On June 25, 2023, 100+ SFO employees proudly marched as a contingent in San Francisco’s annual Pride Parade in celebration of community, solidarity, and resilience. Throughout June, SFO showcased San Francisco’s LGBTQIA+ community with live performances by DJ Juanita MORE!, Mercedes Munro, Paju Munro and BeBe Sweetbriar in Harvey Milk Terminal 1.

SFO Celebrates the Sounds of the Summer

We’re bringing the Sounds of the Summer to SFO with live music from local Bay Area artists. If you’re flying through SFO this July, come check it out!

SFO Museum: Recollections… from the Unknown Museum

The Unknown Museum is an “exploration into America’s brain.” Somewhat like the scientists shrunken and injected into a human body in the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage, a visit to the Unknown Museum is a complete immersion in conceptual art and American consumerism. One is confronted by mass quantities of items that may be familiar or seem that way—products of a lifetime of carefully collecting and arranging everyday objects from the late 1940s–80s. Functioning as a calm and reflective space, the Unknown Museum encourages recollections of the past and challenges visitors to form their own ideas about what is displayed.
