Member UpdateGeraldton Fishermen's Co-operative's online meetings allow Members to engage with their management team regularly. A summary of the most recent meeting is provided below.
Co-operative Update from Matt Rutter - Matt informed Members the Board's CEO selection process was in full swing, and that his final day was likely to be just before Christmas.
- Members will receive GFC's 2022/23 Annual Report next week, ahead of the AGM on the 16th November. Full details of the AGM will accompany the annual report.
- There will be no GFC director elections this year. With the incumbents, Terry Lissiman and Basil Lenzo nominating unopposed.
- Geraldton Blessing of the Fleet is taking place Sun 29 October! We invite everyone to come to the event, take part in the events and see our new GFC Truck that was designed by three school children. Check the advert below for all the details
Market Update from Bryan Keay - Bryan spoke about the $3.50 per kilo Loyalty Top-up Payment for catch delivered in Loyalty Period 1 which was announced to Members on the 30th of September. Payment of the Top-up will made on the 19th of October.
- Approximately 16% of TACC has been caught since the start of the season which is 2% ahead of the COVID pace
- Strong Demand allowed for prices to be pushed higher for Mid Autumn Festival and Golden Week. However, demand has been softer post these festivals while
intake has remained solid. This has led to a correction in prices this week.
- Bryan cautioned Members that in the absence of any major change in the Live market and the increase in TACC this season, Beach Prices from December onwards were likely to be below that of the previous year.
The next Member online meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 1st November, at 4 pm. The meeting link will be sent to Members via email before the meeting.

15-year celebration of Buy West Eat BestWestern Australia's valued Buy West Eat Best initiative celebrates its 15-year milestone this month, making it the nation's longest-running voluntary state-of-origin food labelling program. Buy West Eat Best began in 2008 and has provided customers with trusted food labelling for premium food and beverages grown, farmed, fished, processed, prepared and served right here in WA. The program, delivered by the WA Government, has grown from 38 founding members to around 240 members, of which GFC is one,
from a diverse range of businesses and brands across the State's entire food and beverage supply chain.
Queen Victoria Market’s food hall steps into the 21st century with an oyster bar, lobster rolls, burritos and more!Shoppers will be able to put down their calico bags and pick up a fork when Queen Victoria Market’s revitalised Queen’s Food Hall opens in Fremantle at the end of November. “We’re creating a social and dining destination for people to eat, meet and soak up the market atmosphere,” says the market’s general manager of operations, Mark Bullen.
