CCAC Information Session Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) will join Literacy Pittsburgh to present information about programs, financial aid, and their application process. Open Lab Literacy Pittsburgh Career Advisors and Digital Skills staff have collaborated to offer a space for interested students to study their Upwardly Global lessons. Bidwell is a local free educational institution offering certificates in fields like Culinary Arts, Horticulture, Medical Coding/Billing, Pharmacy Tech, and more. This free market goes from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on December 7, but Friday night happy hours and Saturday early bird tickets are available if you want to shop early and avoid crowds. ![]() Cookie Tour in Lawrenceville: December 14 & 15Visit the many businesses along Butler Street and Penn Avenue for holiday shopping and sample some homemade cookies from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Thanks to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, a group of Literacy Pittsburgh's new citizens were invited to join Iceburgh to cheer on our hometown team against the Detroit Red Wings. ![]() Tricia learned about the scientific method with instructor Deborah Howells. They did an experiment to show how different seeds are dispersed. Tricia has been studying for her GED credential with Literacy Pittsburgh's Beaver site. Deborah says, "Tricia is a really hard worker. We are trying to make science make sense so she can pass that next big milestone." ![]() Zain passed his last two sections of the GED, math and science.
