Join our Employing 100 initiative

Australian Network on Disability is pleased to announce the launch of Employing 100. This two-year project is the result of a grant funded by the Department of Social Services, as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Information Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Program.

Employing 100 aims to successfully place 100 jobseekers with disability into roles in the health care and social assistance, and food and accommodation industries.

Australian Network on Disability has developed an Employer Enablement Framework (a model to support employers to recruit people with disability) to achieve this based on more than a decade’s research. You will receive expert support from Australian Network on Disability throughout the program to support you to enhance your systems and processes, upskill your team and identify vacancies to onboard talent with disability.

Disability Champions discuss targets

We held three invite-only Disability Champions Roundtables in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra respectively in mid-March. The topic was ‘Targeted Employment insights – Lessons Learnt’. There has been much discussion globally and locally about setting employment targets for people with disability and the Disability Royal Commission report due out in September will no doubt speak to this topic.

We heard excellent insights from the Australian Public Service Commission (with a target of 7% by 2025) and Victorian Public Sector Commission (with a target of 12% by 2025) plus insights from Life Without Barriers, Telstra, and the ABC. We thank KPMG, NAB and Attorney-General’s Department for hosting the events, and the speakers and Champions for sharing their employment targets, plans and lessons learnt so far.

Our upcoming National Champions Roundtable will be held virtually on Thursday 6 July.

Upcoming Member Roundtable

Our next national Roundtable for members will be held on Wednesday 3 May from 1pm to 2.30pm. Members will receive an email invitation to the online event with the Teams link closer to the date.

Speakers from RMIT will discuss their IDEA Framework – an intersectional approach to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access and we will announce several exciting updates about our Directing Change Mentoring program and our new Alumni Connect.

Last month Australian Network on Disability launched a new multi-organisational training calendar, designed to make booking into a range of disability confidence training quicker and easier.

The new training calendar allows members to book individual employees into training and participants can share in the experience of learning alongside employees from other organisations in these online facilitated sessions.
