National Apprenticeship Week 2022 ![]() With lockdown highlighting the importance of tradespeople, the sector has seen a surge in applications for training courses. As one of the few sectors that could continue their work to help keep the lights on and the water running. This wasn’t lost on people, who recognised that learning a trade is a route to steady and well-paid work. Here at RK we are committed to helping grow the next generation of electricians and plumbers, passing on our expertise as part of a first class training package. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week ( 7 - 13 Feb) we asked RK apprentices Cameron and Tyler to tell us about their learning journey to date. "I have been a part RK now for 7 months as an electrical apprentice. I have covered jobs within multiple sectors such as new builds, Park Homes commissioning and social housing. I also began my electrical apprenticeship with JTL in September and alongside this I have developed many skills and extended my knowledge greatly. I’m looking forward to what may come in the future!" Cameron Garside (RK Electrical Apprentice) "I joined RK last year following completion of my CSCS training and a successful trial period. Since then I have learnt many aspects of plumbing including first fixing, second fixing and preparing houses for hand-overs on new build sites. I have also worked on the Park Homes sector, particularly the commissioning for when new plots are sited. In September, I also began my off site learning at EAS Mechanical through JTL which I am enjoying. In the future I hope to get my plumbing and gas qualifications and further my knowledge in all aspects of plumbing." Spencer Bell (RK Mechanical Apprentice)
