In response to concerns raised by local communities and industry groups, the Minister for Planning, Housing and Urban Development, the Hon. Nick Champion MP, has commissioned a review of South Australia’s planning system and the implementation of recent reforms made to it.

I am honoured to have been appointed Presiding Member of the independent panel of experts that has been established to undertake this timely review.  Importantly, each of the panel members has significant experience with the South Australian planning system, having all lived and worked in South Australia for many years.

I’m delighted to be joined on the panel by Lisa Teburea, Executive Group Manager, Planning and Urban Policy with the ACT Government, Cate Hart, President of the Planning Institute of Australia (SA) and Executive Director, Environment Heritage and Sustainability for Department of Environment and Water, and Andrew McKeegan, Executive Director, Transport Property for Department of Transport (VIC).

The panel will review key aspects of the planning system and identify opportunities to ensure planning decisions encourage a more liveable, competitive, affordable, and sustainable long-term growth strategy for Greater Adelaide and the regions.

Most importantly, improvements to the planning system cannot be made without your input and the panel is absolutely committed to engaging with as many South Australians as possible.

Throughout the review, we encourage industry groups, practitioners, community groups, local government and the public to share their feedback and contribute to the review.

After all, South Australia’s planning system affects all of us.
