2022 MUSIC BY THE LAKE Concert Series
Comes to an End
Music and food – what a delicious combination! A popular way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, the Park District sponsored five Music by the Lake events this summer, adding a food truck or two when possible. With the musical stylings of ACME Music Band, Simply Elton, Acoustic Generation, Black Frog & Diva and finishing off with Lauren Hill, it was like having our own Ravinia, only much more laid back! Attendees enjoyed delicious BBQ from Up In Smoke Creations, an eclectic offering from The Gut Truck, and wood fired pizza from Mamma Mia Pizza. Tropical Chill Shaved Ice and Ice Cream offered a sweet ending to each
event. Hopefully you made it out and enjoyed at least one of the concerts, and hope to see you again next year!
Our final blood drive for 2022 will be on October 26, 2022, from 3 PM – 7 PM. If you haven’t participated yet this year, please be sure to schedule your time to donate. We have a goal of 18 units at this event. Please consider making a difference, you won’t regret it! Anyone 16 years old or older may be eligible to donate. As food trucks become more popular, we thought we jump in and join the fun! We quickly learned it's not as easy as one would think. We contacted many food truck vendors to find that a lot of them require a minimum amount of sales, and many of those want a guarantee of $1,000 in sales. Some did not have the proper permits from the Lake County Health Department or proper insurance, some were not available. We wanted to start slow and only chose 3 nights throughout the summer. We were finally able to get a few scheduled, just to have our first one cancelled due to an extreme heat advisory. The next two dates featured The Gut Truck and Tropical Chill Shaved Ice and Ice Cream. Other trucks were scheduled as well but cancelled at the last minute, not giving us time
to locate another truck. Did you take advantage of the opportunity to pick up dinner right in our own neighborhood at one of the food truck nights? Is this something you enjoyed and would like the Park District to pursue again next year? We’d appreciate your feedback. You can email parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net or leave a message on the office phone at 847.356.0008. And, if you know of a food truck you would recommend, please pass their information on to us and we'll check them out!
NEW MULCH FOR
ADAM'S PARK
Over time mulch compacts and deteriorates, losing the padding it is intended to provide. On August 18th, 100 yards of certified playground mulch was installed at Adam’s Park, providing a safer, softer surface for all to enjoy!
